I'm getting confused with Maternity Pay

probably baby brain but trying my best not to sound dumb

I'm due end of November and will have 3.5 weeks Annual Leave left to use before I go off so was planning on finishing work Beginning of November and taking my 3 weeks of annual leave before I'm due so it's paid time off.

Over Christmas and New Year there are bank holidays, I will not have to use any of my remaining 3.5 wereks annual leave to cover this will I?? as once baby is born I will be getting my Maternity Pay.

Sorry i just want to make sure I'm understanding correct 😢😢

No once you start maternity leave all leave is covered by that so if you would usually have to use annual for shutdown weeks eg. At Christmas this is under maternity not annual leave.

Hi @anon1411 . If I am on mat leave on a bank holiday, I accrue that and can be taken on a separate day when I return. So at work when going on mat leave we convert the accrued annual leave+ bank holidays into hours to understand easier. Whatever leave I would have earned during mat leave I can use right after mat leave or leave some for use later in the financial year. Check with your HR and have a look at your policy is what I suggest, but I am pretty sure it’s standard that you don’t lose your bank holidays just because you’re on mat leave.

Thank you both so much, I did think this was the case but a few things people have said to me got me all confused and I started doubting myself.
😊
