Hello - never posted to one of these before but found reading mums net got me through my first pregnancy 4 years ago!

had my son via emergency c section after being 10cm dilated and pushing for an hour.

currently 10 +5 - been advised I’m on consultant led care as I’m at higher risk of preterm birth due to late c section. So far been advised they will measure my cervix at 20 weeks and prescribe medication or a cervical stitch should one be required to try prevent preterm labour and birth.

im a nervous wreck - it’s a long time to wait. Looking for any other mums out there with similar experience who’ve gone one to have healthy full term babies second time round.

Not quite the same, I only got to 8cm after 4 days of labour then emcs.

My second i was high risk I was advised they could either induce early at 37 weeks but would only allow me to labour for 12 hours before doing a section , or i could.just book in for a section. I booked in for the section.
Although I had a mild panic at 36 weeks when attempting to hand express set off cramps. I immediately stopped and thankfully made it through to my section, and still bf now 10 months on.

Very similar experience. Pushing followed by EMCS at 37+2. Second pregnancy consultant led and also a risk of pre-term labour. I was monitored regularly but didn't have any additional medications or other treatments.

I opted for an ELCS which was agreed for 38 weeks due to risks of early arrival but feel like I knew I'd never get there. Went into pre-term labour at 35+5. Hospital wouldn't do the CS as baby was too early which came with additional risks so had a VBAC which was a really positive experience for me after a traumatic EMCS and I'm glad that's what happened. Baby was born at 6lb 8oz so a good weight for 35 weeks. Bit of jaundice due to being premature but is otherwise perfectly healthy. Also took to breastfeeding without issue. At almost six weeks old now, she's 91-97th centile for everything and is absolutely thriving. Health visitor can hardly believe she was premature.

It's such a stressful time but both my pregnancies and births have shown me you can't plan how they'll go and there's no way to know, so try to put it out of your mind for now and enjoy these early stages. I'm sure you'll be in good hands throughout.

Hiya, I had a full dilation c section with my first baby (complex as baby was impacted and had to be shoved up and out, very emergent etc), currently 3rd trimester with second.

Before we conceived I had a vaginal ultrasound to assess if there was a 'niche' caused by the previous c section - this is the thing that can cause preterm delivery in subsequent pregnancies. Dr was very surprised that I don't appear to have a niche, as my first delivery was a shitshow and high risk for complications but somehow I've got away with it.

I've had a couple of cervical length checks that have all been fine and no complications from previous section so far.

My first was full dilation, pushing, failed forceps and then emcs where they had to shove him back up. My uterus tore which is apparently common in full dilation emergency sections as well. However my pregnancy with dc2 was straight forward and I went into labour at 39 weeks exactly (the day before my booked elective...she's still impatient now). For comparison, I went into labour with dc1 at 38 weeks 4 days.

I chose an elective because my babies all have big heads and apparently I have a noticeably flatter than average pelvis (had multiple doctors stick their hands up to feel it). Good for running, rubbish for vaginal birth. My second "emergency" section was absolutely amazing.

I had EMCS category 1 with my second baby at 9cm as his heart rate was dropping extremely low.

No one ever told me that I'd be high risk for preterm birth with my third. She was born prematurely at 31+3 but I had bleeding all throughout the pregnancy which then irritated my waters and caused them to break at 31+1, and I then went into labour. So it wasn't really anything to do with the EMCS as I didn't have any problems with my cervix.
