Tw - miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, PCOS, TTC, ovulation testing
Unfortunately, I had it confirmed yesterday that I miscarrying.
Because its mt 2nd one after having a chemical pregnancy in 2023 they've advised i can be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic who can do some genetic testing. I'm going to request this, but wondered if anyone has had this before and what happens? Do they offer any other support?
I am aware there's not a lot i can do to stop this from happening again, but I'd like to try to do something. I'm already working on weight loss and continue to do this. I'm planning to stick to the 200mg caffeine a day as well so I'm not having as much as I was. I was wondering if there was any other ideas/changes you might suggest which could prevent miscarriage? I have read the information on the NHS website but I'm asking for real life scenarios if anyone has made any changes after miscarrying, which might have helped to have a successful pregnancy next time?
(Again I know it does not work 100% but if i can make changes at least I know I'm trying)
My partner will be doing the same, he plans to quit smoking and is going to look into things his side as well.
My second question is - in your experiences, how long after miscarrying did you get regular periods again? I have PCOS and managed to get somewhat regular periods - in worried now that this is going to cause my periods to be out of wack and I'll have no idea when I'll be due now so just wondering how many weeks after the bleeding stopped- did you get your periods back & was it regular or did it take a few cycles to go back to normal?
Finally, if TTC, when do you start testing your ovulation again? Do I wait until after my period has come? Do I test after the bleeding stops now? I'm just looking for some guidance please
Thank you if you've taken the time to read this & respond. I appreciate you.
