Cyclogest pessary alternative?

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant. Prior to having my son 2 years ago I had a history of infertility, failed IVF and early miscarriages so I was prescribed low dose aspirin and cyclogest. I’m happy to say this seemed to have helped me with my rainbow baby.
Now I’m pregnant again I have been advised to do the same thing but I’m having issues with the cyclogest. I hate taking them vaginally and have noticed a bit of an odour when I do which is concerning so I switched to use rectally but now my bum is so sore and I can hardly physically get it in! (Sorry TMI!) I’m guessing it might be hemorroid stopping that… but either way, so painful. Does anyone have any experience of this and do you know if there is an oral alternative?

Could you speak to your GP about alternatives like oral Utrogestan?

Thankyou I have contacted them and they are calling me back so I’ll mention that to them!

Hi OP. I was prescribed with cyclogest twice a day but same as you didn’t want them vaginally (after I had spotting when done vaginally) and having it rectally after a few weeks gave me a lot of gas pain! My IVF consultant offered to switch to lubion injections twice a day. In the end I did lubion injection in the morning and cyclogest pessary rectally in the evening which I tolerated just about. The only reason I didn’t do lubion twice a day was because it was so much more expensive than cyclogest! This is all private though but just wanted to share in case it helps.

Thankyou for the info! I said to the paramedic dr I spoke to this morning that I would prefer to do injections if that was an option, so fingers crossed. Doubt the NHS will do that though. Interesting you say you had gas pain. I’ve had so much gas pain, and horrible tummy issues. It’s horrible stuff, but if I don’t take it and something bad happens I’ll regret it 🤦‍♀️
