5-6 weeks, spotting clear/pink mucous discharge

Hey, I’m looking for some advice or I guess reassurance of people who are going through similar or have been. Im currently between 5-6 weeks pregnant. According to LMP I am 6 weeks and 5 days but I have pcos so I know I can ovulate late.

I started getting thrush last week so used the external cream and the pessary which was advised to me in my last pregnancy, just without the applicator. Yesterday afternoon when I wiped there was really pale pink specs mixed with discharge. This morning there is slightly more, but not heavy to leak into my underwear/pad just when I wipe. It’s almost a clear sticky mucous discharge with hints of pink/pale red. Could this be the start of a miscarriage? I have no pain, a slight dull sensation in my lower stomach but nothing that I would say is painful or stops me from going on about my day.

Unfortunately it could go either way and only time will tell. When I had my miscarriage the spotting progressed to full on bleeding in about 24-36 hours. On my subsequent pregnancy I spotted every day for 4.5 weeks but it never got heavy (some days was slightly more spotting than others). No reason was found for my bleeding and DS is now a healthy 6 month old.

I spotted for the first 8 weeks. Baby is thriving now at 22 weeks so it's not always bad news. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

I had similar at about 7wks and was so scared. It didn’t turn out to be anything and went full term with my now eldest daughter. It’s probably more common than is realised. Hope all is ok for you 🤞🏻

It’s really hard to say. This is what I had for my miscarriages but also I have read so many women who have spotting/bleeding in early pregnancy which this could very well be! I would monitor it over the next day or 2 and contact your GP for a referral to your local early pregnancy unit (unless they offer self referral) x

Thanks for the replies. My GP has referred me to early pregnancy unit, which I should get a call by the end of the week to schedule a scan. Not sure if it’s worth booking a private scan for tomorrow as I’m so anxious as it is, not sure waiting a week would do me any good mentally

Yes it’s really hard waiting! If you book a scan don’t tell them about any bleeding just say it’s an early reassurance as some will have a policy to not scan if there is suspected miscarriage or potential diagnosis etc.
the only other issue with booking a private scan at this stage is that it is very unlikely to be an ‘answer’ so early. For example if there is a fetal pole but no heartbeat, for 5/6 weeks along it could just be too early, so they would likely ask you to come back a week or two later, which will be the same for the NHS as well but you will be in an odd situation where your nhs scan would come round first. As hard as it is, I would probably wait if you feel you can x

I’ve woken up with still spotting, a little bit more and tiny specs of red fresh blood. I’m now having period like dull sensations. I’m going to ring epu and see if I can get seen today

Thank you.

I’ve just got back from the EPU. It’s currently been put down as pregnancy of unknown location as no pregnancy could be seen in the womb or outside. I’ve had blood tests which should hopefully give some answers, as I still had a big positive test this morning.

Did they do a vaginal ultrasound?
