Bump bigger in second pregnancy?

I know it’s normal to show earlier but this pregnancy my bump seems quite a bit bigger than my first… I’m 26 weeks and I’m worrying it means the baby will be really big! I had GD (family history of diabetes) first time around and am being monitored for it this time.

I have been eating 80% healthily and exercising and I’m a slim build so I’m not sure why it is bigger…!

Mine was, no GD

It’s bigger because your uterus has slackened compared to your first pregnancy. It’s not necessarily that your baby is bigger; it’s more that your abdominal muscles aren’t as tight this time, so don’t hold everything in as much as they did first time round. Nonetheless, I’m sure you’ll get the routine test for GD, so maybe wait until that.

Im significantly bigger this time in pregnancy 2 than in pregnancy 1! Im around 30 weeks and bigger than I was when my first was born!
I do have GD but only diet controlled and growth scans are normal.
Everything is a bit more slack in pregnancy 2 so your abdominal muscles wont hold things in as well as they did before.

I had a very large third baby but was wearing size 12 shorts when I went to hospital to deliver him, I had gd but most people could not tell I was pregnant. I think the way the baby lies, the elasticity of your skin and how toned your core muscles are together with posture all influence the size of the bump. The midwife will guide you.
I know 80percent healthy eating is a bit of a buzz thing but it does not mean you can eat 20 percent more calories than your body needs. Is your weight gain along normal lines for your stage pregnancy?

I’m nearly 6 months pregnant with my second (and my first is only 15 months so a smallish gap between pregnancies) and I definitely noticed I got bigger sooner with this pregnancy, but my bump now is smaller than my bump was with my daughter at this stage. My gran tells me it’s because you carry smaller with boys but that may well be a load of rubbish😂

My second bump was the same size as my first bump full term at 20 weeks! I was one hell of a whopper

I don't want to cause you alarm OP, but my bump was bigger second time (I was showing by 3 months second time compared with 6 months first time around) and it turned out DD2 was 50% bigger at birth than DD1 🙈

Both babies measured around the 50th centile throughout, projected birth weight for both was 8lb. No GD either time (although I was tested 3 times for it during second pregnancy as glucose levels were close to the threshold multiple times). DD1 was born 7lbs 5oz at 39 weeks, DD2 was born 10lb 12oz at 41 weeks. That came as a bit of a surprise to everyone 😂

Not knowing she was a whopper certainly helped when it came to the pushing part...and if it helps, I thought it was an easier labour and delivery!
