Antihisan cream in pregnancy

I have a wasp sting that has started getting worse again after 9 days. (Red swollen and unbearably itchy) I went to the pharmacy today and was given Antihisan cream (Mepyramine maleate) but the pharmacist seemed completely thrown by the fact I was pregnant and was just reading the boxes until he got to that one and said it’s ’probably fine’.
He also barely glanced at my arm but told me it wasn’t infected. I’m sure it is fine but it hasn’t filled me with confidence, my GP isn’t open until Monday.

Does anyone have experience of this? Either the delayed sting reaction or using Antihisan in pregnancy.

It's fine, just looks like a reaction to a sting. Take some antihistamine ( I'm sure you can take that as I had wicked hay fever when pregnant)and use the cream.

You can use antihisan topical cream. I have nasty allergic reactions to mosquito bites. I went to the GP as you are not supposed to take antihistamines and most of the creams have steroids in them so you can't use them. She searched on bumps and also phoned the local hospital immunology department as bumps didn't have enough information. They said to ice and to use antihisan topical cream (a tiny amount as infrequently as you can get away with) they also told her there is one oral antihistamine that is safe for pregnancy- you need your GP to prescribe it.

They also advised if you are pregnant and know you react to bites to wear insect repellent and take preventative measures like loose long clothing.

Put some vinegar on it. It will neutralise it.

I'm sure cetrizine is ok in pregnancy, I'll have a Google ...

Yes, it's fine, no need to see the GP for a prescription.
