I don't understand why you think you wouldn't be able to eat them? It is just cooked chicken, isn't it?

kissmyfatass · 25/07/2025 15:46

I can’t see why not. I would.

DiscoBob · 25/07/2025 15:46

Well yes but they taste like dog treats.
They're cooked mechanically recovered meat and preservatives. No different to eating a meal deal sandwich or something. Or a pepperami.

They're not harmful other than not being very healthy. Why would they be?

Thankyou all, i just worry i’ve had a misscarrige before so im trying to be good with my eating and everything but i just overthink too much lol. I know it seems like a silly question but it scares me at the thought of eating something i shouldn’t. Thankyou x

Heres the list from my notes app based on the NHS guidelines. Hope it helps, I just checked back to it every time I was concerned, I totally get the worry!

  • pasteurised or unpasteurised mould-ripened soft cheeses with a white coating on the outside, such as brie, camembert and chèvre (unless cooked until steaming hot)
  • foods made from unpasteurised milk, such as soft ripened goats' cheese
  • pasteurised or unpasteurised soft blue cheeses, such as danish blue, gorgonzola and roquefort (unless cooked until steaming hot)
  • unpasteurised cows' milk, goats' milk, sheep's milk or cream
  • cold cured meats, such as salami, pepperoni, chorizo and prosciutto (unless cooked thoroughly)
  • raw or undercooked meat
  • liver and liver products
  • all types of pâté, including vegetarian pâté
  • game meats such as goose, partridge or pheasant
  • raw or partially cooked hen eggs that are not British Lion or produced under the Laid in Britain scheme (I avoid all raw or partially cooked eggs)
  • raw or partially cooked duck, goose or quail eggs
  • swordfish
  • marlin
  • shark (who eats shark???)
  • raw shellfish
  • cold-smoked or cured fish (for example smoked salmon or gravlax, including in sushi), unless it has been cooked until steaming hot
  • you should eat no more than 2 portions of oily fish a week, such as salmon, trout, mackerel or herring
  • you should eat no more than 2 tuna steaks (about 140g cooked or 170g raw) or 4 medium-size cans of tuna (about 140g when drained) per week
  • too much caffeine
  • alcohol (obviously!)
  • liquorice root
  • unwashed fruit and veg
  • enoki mushrooms

It’s shit food, but no more shit for you if you’re pregnant.

monicagellerbing · 25/07/2025 17:16

It’s chicken ffs

PIayer456 · 25/07/2025 18:18

No, mechanically recovered chicken eyelids and toenails don’t pose an increased threat to a pregnant woman.
