I didn't fast for my GTT

I was supposed to stop eating at midnight but I had a yoghurt at about 2am. It was the one in the link below. I completely forgot I should have been fasting (my also pregnant sister phoned in tears and in that moment we got chatting on the phone and it just went out of my head).

My fasting blood was taken at 10.30am today. I was seen an hour late and it should have been at 9.30am.

Do you think it is good enough I didn't eat from 2am onwards?

Tell your midwife you will need to redo it.

Why didn't you tell them so they could rebook you? You'll need to redo it as it won't be accurate.

Mention it to your midwife but I wouldn't stress about it. If you come back as diabetic then they may repeat it but if you are clear for diabetes then they probably won't bother.

If you test positive for diabetes then first step is adjusting your diet so your not at risk of being prescribed unnecessary medication as a result of one late yoghurt. Don't panic!

I think it depends. You should mention it. But some NHS guidance I've seen says the fast should be 8-14 hours. They were expecting a 9.5 hour fast originally based on your appointment time, but I feel like the guidance of nothing after midnight is a standard rule and would cover them for appointments starting as early as 8am onwards?? So I would think 1 hour wouldn't make that much difference, but it's best to check with them

I will tell them! In the moment I did forget as I overslept, was running late for the appointment, left my 2 year old having a nightmarish tantrum with DH and thought I had fasted as was intentionally skipping breakfast etc. It's only just popped into my head now while I wait. I've had the sugary drink and am waiting to be tested at 12.30pm - and so I'll tell them when they next call me in, I'm just sat in the waiting area for now.

I do feel so silly for having forgotten I ate though and am feeling pretty embarrassed about it.

I just spoke to the receptionist who spoke to the phlebotomist - they'll have a chat with the midwife and get back to me. They're leaning more towards me redoing it as they said the yoghurt is very sugary and it'll probably skew results.
