Progesterone Stories

Hi all,

I was looking around for some threads on using progesterone for stopping bleeding etc during early pregnancy but thought I would start a new one.

I have had three miscarriages and one birth ( my DD4) the last two in July last year and April this year. Both ended at 5 weeks so never really developed. I am on the waiting list for the miscarriage clinic but as I started spotting last week for a few days I have been put on progesterone.

I took some last night and this morning as directed so am just waiting to see how they make me feel-midwife said they can obviously enhance pregnancy symptoms etc actually woke up feeling pretty good this morning apart from a slight sicky feeling-def still struggling to eat.

Anyways I just wondered if anyone had any stories or information re using progesterone and was it successful.

I have my scan in two weeks to see if there has been any progression so am a bundle of nerves.

Hi @LillianLily I am on cyclogest twice a day as well. Prescribed after a MMC last summer and an early MC in Feb. NHS scanned me at 5 weeks to check placement and then around 7 weeks to check viability (heartbeat) they then gave it to me. I've been taking it vaginally with no problems other than it's a bit messy and I've had bloating but don't know if that's just normal. I don't know if it enhanced symptoms but they have been stronger than previous pregnancy. I'm now 13 weeks and all looking good. I also did research and decided to take baby aspirin as well which I've had since 5w.
Good luck!

Hi, ive gone through 3 miscarriages in 16 months and finally after 10 months id been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, the consultant said it may be better if we start you on progesterone from you positive test.
Which was all ok until 3 weeks later after testing was underway i found out i was pregnant. It took me 3 days from my positive test to get the progesterone as i was constantly fighting and crying and arguing to different people in the nhs.
I felt like it caused me a lot of bloating and tiredness, my sickness wasnt too bad, but my nipples felt like they were being carved off with a rusty butter knife.
So yes it kind of enhanced some of the symptoms🤣
It was very messy!! I had to spend 20 minutes in a morning laid on my back waiting for it to absorb enough so i could stand up and let it do its magic essentially.
Ive had to get rid of a lot of underwear because of it and i had it up until 16 weeks of pregnancy.

Im now 23 weeks and 5 days and we're doing wonderful, moving around, kicking and overall being a pain already and hes not even here🤣

When it really starts to kick in you may feel some severe pregnancy symptoms, dont let that be all and end all for you. Keep taking it!

Good luck op x

My progesterone baby has just finished her first year of uni. She was born after 5 miscarriages and she was a threatened miscarriage until I managed to find a doctor willing to offer progesterone. 20 years ago it was poo pooed by nearly all doctors even when low progesterone was assumed or confirmed. I then went on to fall pregnant 4 years later and that progesterone baby is just sat their GCSE’s
