Ok please someone talk some sense into me. I’m only 4+6 and have the mother of all constipation. Worst I’ve ever had.

I was just in the loo and even though I tried so hard to be relaxed my body naturally strained REALLY hard on its own.

will this increase my risk of miscarriage?

My last pregnancy ended about now so I’m petrified

I am 4+4 and really suffering with it too. I’m taking prune juice and lots of fibre and water.
when I strain I have red spotting so that is an extra worry

Lots of water and take Movicol each day! In addition to whatever form of fibre you can stomach. Fruits, veggies, pulses etc

It’s scary isn’t it @rachael2308 I just bought some prune juice on Amazon to come tomorrow!

I don't think it would encourage risk of miscarriage but I had spotting resulting from straining when constipated and that's scary when pregnancy so just try not to. Drunk more water, fruit juice, keep moving...

Have you just started taking pregnancy vitamins? For me the iron was causing constipation. You can get folic acid/vitamin d without the iron and it might help! If you need the iron then apparently iron citrate is easier to absorb and doesn't cause the same issues.
Good luck!

no it won’t ’cause’ miscarriage. Take some fybrogel.

I had appalling constipation for the first five months of my pregnancy and, even though I was assured it could not harm my baby, I was in a constant state of high anxiety. I was advised to use Lactulose regularly and Movicole if it became very accute. Neither really worked and I ended up lurching from one incident of agonising constipation, also causing severe piles which thrombosed, to another. At about 20 weeks a consultant advised I combine both Lactulose and Movicole and, mercifully, this sorted it out and I did not once suffer from constipation again dring pregnancy or following birth. I was a little anxious about taking laxative medication while pregnant but I was told that neither Lactulose nor Movicole are absorbed into the bloodstream. All the best.
