Hi all,

I signed up to this forum as I’m TTC. I had sex two days ago & I have started having cramping in my left lower abdomen. I can’t take a pregnancy test for a while & my AF isn’t due for another 12 days!

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey, Guant. Sorry for the confusion.. I am very new to all of this.

I have attached a photo of my Flo calendar which shows my last period, ovulation dates & next period date. I intend to get an Apple Watch to chart my BBT & also some LH sticks for ovulation.

Not sure if I’m pregnant.. please help! Anyone experience very early pregnant symptoms?

I thought yesterday you worked out you were 7dpo? But now you think 11dpo but your period is due on 31st July? And your last fertile day was 5 days ago? None of those dates match up. If you’re 11dpo your period will be due in the next 3-4 days. How long is your cycle normally and are you normally regular?
Honestly seeing as you’ve just started TTC I would just advise you wait until you’re officially late for your period before testing. Or start actually tracking ovulation with sticks etc. Then you’ll definitely know when you can test.

They are reviewing my photo atm but my dates are as follows:

First day of last period: 30.6.2025
Predicted ovulation day: 6.7.2025
Date of last sex: 17.7.2025
Next period due: 27.7.2025

I’m so sorry for the confusion & hope this helps!

Thought I would give you a beginners guided to your cycle incase it helps

The first day of your cycle (CD1) is the first day of your period.

Your cycle will usually be around 28-31 days but can be shorter/longer and can vary each month. You can use apps to track this as it’s easy to forget dates. Also good to use apps to track positive ovulation tests. Beyond that though apps are only guessing and you should take them with a pinch of salt.

Your cycle is split into 2 key parts with ovulation in the middle.

Pre-ovulation is the first half of your cycle. This will include your period and then a gradual build up to ovulation, where you will notice more and more discharge (“cervical mucus”) and this will become more clear and stretchy as you approach ovulation.

1-2 days before ovulation and up to 24 hours after ovulation is the best window to get pregnant. You can technically get pregnant by having sex up to 5 days before ovulation but that’s less likely.
For an average 28 day cycle you will be most fertile around days 12-15. But remember this is personal to you and it’s best to try work out what your dates are. It can vary every month.

You can work out when you’re ovulating using cheap test strips, you dip these in your pee a few times a day when you think ovulation is close and when they turn positive you know ovulation is about to happen. Ovulation usually happens 24 hours after a positive test.

After ovulation has actually happened, you have around 12-14 days until your period. This is called your luteal phase and for most people this is always the same length each month, so if you can pin down ovulation, you can learn exactly when to expect your period.

During the luteal phase you can experience a lot of ‘pregnancy’ symptoms
because the same hormone (progesterone) is high in both pregnancy and in the run up to your period. Having sore boobs etc doesn’t necessarily mean you’re pregnant, it could easily mean period is coming too.

You can start testing for pregnancy about 9 days after ovulation (9DPO) but if you can wait until more like 11-12DPO you will get more clarity.

If you want to be absolutely sure of exactly if and when you ovulated the only way to do that is with temperature charting, which is quite a faff and can make you a little obsessed so I don’t recommend initially.

For first 3-6 months of TTC, try to just have plenty of sex around the right time, use ovulation test strips, and log positive ovulation tests and period dates in an app to keep track. And try not to obsess. I think many of us can find it fun and exciting to really throw ourselves into it all, but when it doesn’t work straight away that can quickly turn to obsession and lots of stress. So try not to pay too much attention to the whole thing
Good luck!

This is a great post, thank you so much for enlightening me on everything. 👍🏽💕

That’s a very early ovulation. Is that maybe just the start of your fertile period? What does the circle mean on 12th? Are you sure that’s not your predicted ovulation? They normally give you about 5 days of fertile days before you actually ovulate because sperm can last that long waiting for the egg. The egg dies very quickly after ovulation (24-48 hours) if not fertilised so you need to make sure you’re having sex before/during ovulation.

Hi OP, I’ve used Flo for many years for both period tracking and both times TTC. Your predicted ovulation day is 12th, the one with the circle around it. The 6th is the start of your fertile window which lasts until the 16th (all of the blue days). You should be DTD around 10/11/12/13th to conceive, based on those dates. Hope that helps.

I am really unsure tbh but the circle around 12th meaning my ovulation makes a lot of sense! I have checked ovulation calculators & they say the start of my ovulation is 10th July so 1dpo would be 11th July. Does that sound about right?

I think it depends on the calculator. Some may be using your fertile period rather than actual ovulation day. And unless you tracked ovulation with sticks or temperature you can’t know for definite when you ovulated. You could have ovulated on 10th like some calculators say. Or you could have on 12th like your app says. So for this month I’d just wait until your period is almost due to test. If you’re not due until 27th ish I’d wait another 4 days to test.

PinkFrogss · 21/07/2025 21:59

Another thing if you’re planning to test early OP, make sure you’ve got red dye tests. They’re more sensitive, cheaper, and not as prone to evaporation lines as clear blues!

curliegirlie · 22/07/2025 13:44

The reason it gave you so many potential fertile days is that you’ve only just started using the app, so basically it doesn’t have much of a clue until you start plugging in more data or it has a few cycles worth of history to draw upon. But going by the guesstimate of 12th July, that would make you approximately 10dpo now. Early Boots tests would give you an unambiguous line in a day or two, otherwise wait and see if your period arrives.

This is what I was going to say also, it’s just guessing because it needs more data to go off. And while it’s not sure it’s given you a really large fertile window. I would say with a 27 day cycle that started on 30th June, you would most likely have ovulated on 13th July on a couple days before or after. Next month use the ovulation strips and try narrow it down, then update your app, and it will start to learn your cycle ☺️

Just a quick update: AF is two days late. Took a pregnancy test & it was a BFN. Is there still a chance?

Sorry OP, unless the test was faulty you’d have enough HCG to get a positive test with a late period.

It’s your first cycle TTC, were you previously on birth control? And how much period history is in your Flo app?
