Repeated chemical pregnancies with Mirena coil

Hi,
I originally got a mirena coil fitted during my c-section with my second child. I experienced my first chemical pregnancy 8 weeks PP and was scanned to make sure the IUD was still in place- which it was. Fast forward 5 months, it fell out.
I’ve since had a new one in January this year but since then I’ve had 3 chemical pregnancies, one I’ve discovered today after a couple days of feeling very nauseous and having pains in the pelvis area.
Last time this happened my GP told me she’d still recommend keeping the coil in as it’s got the highest protection rating, however this happening every couple months is stressing me out! Surely this isn’t a thing? I should add, I fell pregnant with my second child while I had a copper coil fitted.

I can’t seem to find anytning on this anywhere or anyone experiencing the same thing? Please help!

Thank you x

Christ, there’s no way I’d be keeping it in. Highest protection rating but it clearly isn’t working for you at all. That is really poor advice from your GP.

It’s not working for you so why keep it?

I’ve never really coped well with any other contraception (they affect my mental health a lot) and I would forget to take the pill for sure. I guess I’ve still got it because the only other option for us would be my partner to have a vasectomy, however we’re still too young to say we’d never want more children.

How stressful. How about the depo injection or implant instead www.contraceptionchoices.org/

There's no way that I would be keeping the Merina in your position. It's really not suiting you. I also think it's poor advice you are getting from the GP. Are they just trying to save themselves work?

They just generally seem so uninterested about it and don’t want to investigate or even come up with a different solution.

That's not good. Can you go to a different GP?

Yes, I think I’ll try that next week

You would be better seeing a family planning clinic as they specialise in contraception. Or a gynaecologist.
