Missed miscarriage and nearly 40

Hi,

I have one son and I will be 40 this year. I desperately want to give my son a sibling, but worry as I am biologically old. I learnt at 12 weeks pregnant recently that the baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks, and have been passing blood since (a week now). I really need to hear some positive stories from those of similar age who have miscarried and been able to go on and have a child quite soon thereafter. My son asks for a friend daily. It is breaking my husband's and my heart.

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It’s a painful experience.

Many women have had successful pregnancies at your age. I can think of several I know personally.

It can’t be guaranteed and you should be prepared for all outcomes, but it’s absolutely possible, and worth trying for if it means a lot to you. Stay positive - good luck.

Hi, I’m sorry for your loss.

I experienced 2 miscarriages at 6 and 7 weeks respectively when I was 38. I turned 39 in June and have just come out of my 12 weeks scan today. Everything, at the moment, is as it should be. My last miscarriage was March, I got pregnant early May.

I think there is plenty of scope for you to have a successful pregnancy and give your lovely son a sibling. Keep going, what is meant for you will not pass you by. ✨♥️ wishing you all the best.

So sorry about your mis but really 40 isnt that old these days. I have teenagers but also had a single at 40 and twins at 42 and I'm now 43 and expecting our final one. Not had to change it watch clocks or anything just happened. My cousin has just had her second at 45 no problems and my cousin's best friend she is 44 is due twins in a couple of weeks. Actually the more I'm thinking the more I realise how many are over 40 I know even at the classes I go to for the little ones 😊

I had a MMC with my first pregnancy and was terrified it would happen again. However, I’m now 25 weeks and all seems to be going ok.

It’s often just a random one off so don’t lose hope.

Good luck x

I had a MMC at 39, then two more miscarriages before having my lovely DS at 42. Don't give up, if that's what you want.

@Rayqueen , my goodness, this is so reassuring to hear. I honestly feel so old, especially with all the mothers at my son's school being younger than me! It doesn't help that age is constantly mentioned by the midwives once pregnant. Thank you for sharing such a strong message!
