Apologies for stupid question but I'm not very good at this. I got a BFP last Saturday and am thrilled! But not sure how far along I am as wasn't tracking ovulation. My cycles have been on the longer side since having DC (1 year old). In the past, I've experienced fertility struggles, molar pregnancy and loss, then finally had my DC. Fast forward to now, started TTC, figured it would be a bit of a journey again and can't believe I'm here! So wasn't tracking ovulation as didn't want to pile the pressure on straight away.

-LMP 8th June
-Flo predicted ovulation 24th June CD 17
-Past OPKs suggested I've usually ovulated later eg. CD 18-20
-Cycles varied from 29-36 days since having DC
-8th July CD 31 BFN
-Assumed out so waited until 12th July CD 35 to test - BFP
-Last DTD 27th June CD 20 if that's relevant

Is there any way of knowing when did I likely ovulate if still testing BFN on 8th July? Wasn't using a particularly sensitive test, it was 25 IU/L. If I go by LMP then something is off because I don't think my tests are dark enough to be 5 weeks. Basically think I'm less pregnant than the LMP would suggest. At least hoping that's the case based on my tests.

Again, sorry for stupid question I really feel so stupid when it comes to this stuff. Thank you for any help or insight❤️

Congrats! Not a stupid question, we all like to know when etc!

If you weren't tracking ovulation then there's no definitive way you would know. Your 12 week dating scan will be able to give you a better indication of when you conceived but even that needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Thank you! Yes, I thought as much just wish there was a way to know. Thanks for your reply x

Helloo! Its a steuggle to know exactly how far along you are as going off LMP, doctors will add on the 2 weeks as a normal 28 day cycle.
Like with yourself its not always the case.
So you could be at the latter end of the 2 weeks when you conceieved.
I took mine from LMP and then took 2 weeks off.
So when i was 5 weeks i would say 3😂

It worked for me, however i had a normal 28 day cycle by the time i got pregnant.

I went for a scan at 7 weeks when i knew i would have been 7 weeks, and was told i was actually 7 weeks and 3 days.
Then i went for my 12 week scan and was told i just needed to add a day to my already confirmed date.

So i think i was 12 week and 5 days by the time i went for my 12 week scan.

You may be better on waiting for a scan or getting an early reassurance once if possible!

You may just be very early and the tests arent picking that up as they dont go from LMP, they just go from what your HCG is showing.

Sorry i couldnt be more help, i just wanted to reassure you that LMP is a bunch of balls through the nhs and that you always are a little behind depending on when you ovulated.

Dont worry too much, maybe go for a scan in 3/4 weeks😁

Also congrats! X

I would say that when you get a positive quite early in testing then your usually around the 4 week mark give or take a couple of days so if you tested positive on 12th July your probably due around 21st March, you will know for sure when you have a scan but I’d loosely base it on that ☺️

@LER2023 Thank you for your help. Yes, I think going by LMP can really throw you. I had a molar pregnancy before and needed to go for an early scan next pregnancy to rule that out again. I was less than LMP suggested and I spent weeks worrying it was not progressing, when all along I was just earlier than LMP said. I will need to organise an early scan again to outrule molar so would ideally like to go in more prepared to be less pregnant than they anticipate, hopefully avoiding all that worry again. Thank you! x

@TTCPALPCOS Thanks for your help. Yes I think you're right, I will assume I was about 4 weeks when testing and go from there. I am hoping to avoid unnecessarily worrying about 'measuring behind' as that happened last time when in fact I was just a late ovulater.
