Toxoplasmosis - undercooked lamb

New here and just wondering if anyone has any advice for toxoplasmosis. Went to a family bbq and had some undercooked lamb but I didn’t realize till I ate a whole piece. The small bit I spat out looked like the attached. First pregnancy - very anxious and I’m in my third trimester. I read it could have up to 80% transmission to the fetus.

Do you eat pink/rare meat usually? If yes you could already have had it and have immunity. I’m living abroad and one of the 1st screening blood tests they did showed I had previously had it. Also was the meat bought fresh or was it frozen, doc told me if the meat was frozen at -22 for at least 3 days then the meat is no longer a risk.

not much you can do now as you have eaten it. If you are still super anxious you could go to your GP and ask for the blood test and that way you know if you’ve had an infection and if it’s recent or an old one.

I haven’t been infected before. I got tested at the beginning of my pregnancy and I know it was non frozen meat. I have requested a test but as far as I know it takes several weeks and by then the fetus is impacted.

It’s highly unlikely you will be infected. You have managed to get through your life so far without being infected if that’s what the test says. Lots of women have cats in their houses etc and don’t get infected. I ate things by accident a couple of times in pregnancy such as Parma ham and bloody steak without thinking. All was ok.

Personally wouldn't call that under cooked, just pink. If it was hot through I wouldn't worry. It's
Also, in the uk the meat is more controlled and its highly unlikely you would get toxoplasmosis from it. More likely from deli meat or raw meat.
If you're extremely worried about it, ask for a blood test (not in the uk for this pregnancy and it's a routine monthly blood test for all pregnancies here)
So far all negative, and although I don't eat meat, I don't ever wash my veg or fruit or salad and still it sushi. Test all coming back normal, if that helps ease your anxiety!

Lamb cooked medium, which that appears to be, would usually hit the temp required to kill off toko bacteria. I’ve eaten loads of rare meat and always had cats and never had it (was tested in previous pregnancy abroad) so I don’t think it’s common enough to worry about especially as that meat is hardly raw.

Thank you all for the replies. I just find that I’m so anxious about this as I don’t want to mess up if that makes sense. I felt like it was preventable and am letting myself get pulled into the worse case scenario thinking.

@LivelyGreenHelper a relative of mine actually had toxoplasmosis during pregnancy and her dc was absolutely fine, they are in their 30s now. So even if you did contract it, which is unlikely, it doesn’t always cause problems.

@TheIceBear thank you for sharing, do you know what trimester they were in and if they took meds? Just down an extreme rabbit hole

@LivelyGreenHelper i am
not sure as it was so long ago but i think it was later in the pregnancy. I would suggest talking to your midwife about your concerns but honestly the risk is so small from one episode of undercooked meat , try not to think about it too much. I know how easy it can be to spiral about things when pregnant.
