C-section scar healing

I had a c section just over 2 weeks ago, it all went smoothly and the healing process has been great up until now…

I have a little bit of a belly that I have to lift to be able to see the scar which in turn gets sweaty. I clean it with water twice a day, pat dry and try and let it air out a few times a day but with a newborn and a partner that’s back to work, I’m struggling! I sent a picture to my gp as my partner said it looks a little red and oozy and they prescribed antibiotics, does anyone else have this problem? How do you keep it clean and dry to prevent infections when the scar is literally underneath my belly overhang!?

I am 7 weeks post op, and had this issue. I was also prescribed antibiotics & canestan cream in case it was a fungal infection Confused

I washed the area with mild soap (I know only water is advised) - and then used a piece of folded kitchen towel and placed it in the fold under my tummy overhang - so it stayed dry, midwife also advised a panty liner would serve the same purpose.

Aside from that, I did all the same things as you, and it healed & cleared up by about 5/ 6 weeks - I'm sure yours will be much quicker, they delayed antibiotics for me!

I had this problem with my first csection. I ended up patting it dry with a clean flannel and lying down on my back for like 30mins holding up the overhang to air out the scar after a shower. I used to use a handheld fan to try and dry it out I know some people use a hairdryer on cold setting

My first one had open sections for a few months but never needed antibiotics etc, weirdly my second was fine even though I was obese that time.

Amazing thank you so so much, this is really helpful! I will try the kitchen roll / panty liner. It makes it so much worse with this heat!

I had this with my son. Make sure the skin isn't touching. Use a pad or cloth if you start feeling sweaty. I also used some hydrocortisone for the really sore bits. I still get it now occasionally 11 years later but it clears up really quickly.

Dunno about humans but f you were a dog I'd be using CLX wipes.
