'Inbetween' maternity trousers - Bristol area or the internet

Can anyone recommend somewhere good for maternity trousers for the early-2nd trimester? Some of my work trousers are starting to get a bit tight, so went shopping this weekend. Loads of great tops around, but all the trousers I could find were vast (i.e. will be really useful in a few months time). I tried 'normal' trousers too as I have some jeans that sit on the hips and are still fine, but most 'proper' trousers have a button quite high up, even if they are drawstring. Any hot tips? Thanks

I got these from Jojo maman bebe at around week 16 or so and they did me for work right through to last Friday when I finished on maternity leave (at 36 weeks). They have a stretchy waistband that sits below the bump and goes all the way round and I had no problem with them falling down etc. The stretchy waistband is kind of hidden behind a regular waistband (if that makes any sense at all).

When my trousers/jeans first got tight, I used a hairband to loop together the button and button hole and then covered over the waistband with a bump band that I got from topshop for a fiver. I got a lot longer wear from regular trousers/jeans thanks to that.

Have you tried a bump band? I used one over my regular jeans and just left them undone (or used an elastic band). It's not the most comfortable solution but it did me for those few weeks when I was inbetween. No-one seemed to notice!

I would recommend buying one size larger at first - will still be useful post partum until you lose baby weight...
as you have noticed, you can wear hipsters for a while yet
and there are some maternity trousers you can get which have adjustable waistband, with elastic inside and a button with many variable buttonholes - they would be useful from now almost right up to the end of your pg, if you can get some in this style

X post!

Also I've just remembered, I got a nice pair of black Top Shop trousers that weren't massive and have adjustable elastic thing inside the waistband so they haven't got that horrible stretchy maternity panel. I started wearing them at about 15 weeks.

aubergenie - what's a "bump band"? Where do you buy one?

bump band from topshop.

Helps you wear regular tops/jeans/trousers for a bit longer. If you need to leave trousers undone or hooked up with hairband/elastic band then this will protect your modesty!

Gap!!!!
Gap Maternity (not in all branches) and Seraphine.

Exellent, thanks for the tips everyone. Will definitly invest in a bump band - have tried a few larger sizes of trousers but very baggy round the bum (probably not for much longer unless i lay off the chocolate tho!) Bristol shops are a bit rubbish at the moment, and definitly no Gap maternity. But, there's a big new development opening in September - just in time for my christmas shopping which I'm going to attempt in October as due in November!
