Hi all!

I have had a horrific week been in hospital due to 2 week headache after MRI and MRV can now say it is intracranial hypotension and they hope once baby is here it’ll sort itself and if not they will do further investigations as nobody knows why it happened!

so it is unsafe for my to labour baby or push or have a spinal or epidural so the specialists have all decided a c section under GA is our only way at 39 weeks - I want all the positive stories and tips etc that you have please as that is only a week and a bit a way ❤️

I had an emergency c section under ga so obviously very different but my recovery after was pretty straightforward despite considering the other problems I had( won't scare you with my nightmare story!)
My main positive was I could sit down with ease unlike my first which was a ventouse delivery!

Hi, I had category 1 EMCS under GA with my second baby. It was fine, I recovered really well (basically back to normal after 2 weeks) and baby was fine too, no problems BF.

For tips I'd say bring peppermint tea to the hospital as I had really bad gas pain, it was much more painful than the actual cut!

Cat 1 EMCS under GA here too. DS is now 8. It was a doddle, recovery was a breeze, was up and about next day albeit incision was bit sore for a couple of days.

You can still BF if you want to. Oh and beware the first post-CS poo! 💩

If youre planning to breastfeed have some expressed colostrum ready for the first couple of feeds, if you can manage to get some, that is. It's possible you may not feel up to the first feed so having that to fall back on would be great. Get your birth partner prepped to do skin to skin while you're separated from baby, if that is something you'd like to happen. What I mean by prepped is think of your partner's clothing, like a light button down shirt or something so make him/her comfortable. Get them to look at videos of skin to skin with a newborn - I know that sounds a bit OTT maybe but it can feel all fumbled trying to get position right and be confident with a little newborn. So working it out in advance can help. My partner was utterly unprepared to do it and while I was a bit unwell after birth he didn't feel confident enough to do it until I came around, something we both regret now.
If you're going to put a hat or outfit on your baby start to keep these items on your body, as in down your top and on your skin, in the days leading up to the birth and even before heading to theatre. That way they'll smell like you and be a nice comfort to baby in the immediate moments after birth.
Go easy and be patient with yourself, things can feel a little slow at first but you'll be feeling better by the day. Congratulations in advance!

I had a c section under GA 10 weeks ago now and it was such a positive experience! I went in at 10.10am and little one was born at 10.42, he spent some time with dad as I had some bleeding (due to being anemic) I woke up in recovery, I didn’t feel pain, I felt a bit of pressure. Just felt like I’d had a really long sleep. I was in post natal ward by 1 and they got me up at about 7/8 ish, that was probably the worst part, but it got so much easier to get up and move. I was home 24 hours after🤗
