Cabin holiday on farm pregnant

Hello, I've gone and booked a weekend away at a rural cabin which is surrounded by sheep (they come right up to the cabin apparently) and I'm now panicking that this might be unsafe in pregnancy? DH reckons it will be fine as past lambing season (we're going early August) and obviously won't touch any sheep and will be vigilant with hand washing for us all (me, DH and 3yo) - but can anyone shed any light as to whether this is risky? It's non refundable but obviously if it would be a real danger to baby we'd take the hit... Unsure if this is a genuine worry or just paranoia! Thanks.

Lambing season is over - although there’ll always be the odd one who’s a bit behind the curve!
As long as you aren’t touching the animals and have proper handwashing facilities in the cabin, you’ll be grand.

Plenty of women have healthy babies in rural England where sheep live. Just don't touch them and it's perfectly safe op 😁😁

Oh wow I went and stayed in an air bnb surrounded by new lambs (right against our window it was cute) a few months back when about 20 weeks and didn’t even think about it. Obviously if you or toddler touch sheep wash hands after?

It is not risky. Well it could be risky if you

  • touch the sheep's butts just after birth
  • touch their udders
  • then lick your hands

None of that is likely! It isn't likely they will even let you stroke them, and even if you did stroke one you wouldn't then need to lick your hands or put them round your own private bits without washing them first!!

Thank you for these replies, feel much better about it now! I don't usually stress about these things but something got into me about this and I got a little panicked! Definitely feeling more at ease now.

Not to worry. Pregnancy can do that...!
