Bleeding 18 weeks

Hi, I am currently 18+3 and was having a pretty straight forward first pregnancy. At 17+1 I had bright red spotting when wiping and went to triage who listened in to baby (all good) and checked my cervix, currently closed and diagnosed cervical ectropion. I had no more bleeding till Thursday this week and the same again bright red spotting went back to triage again and the doctor straight away when checking my cervix said it was the same cervical ectropion and a diagnosis of thrush. No more bleeding and a midwife listened in again on Friday and baby is all good. Then when going to bathroom today same bright red bleeding when wiping. Does anyone who has had similar go to triage each time? Know if the thrush is making it worse? It’s making me very anxious due to not yet feeling baby’s movements and reading awful stories online about losses people have had after spotting.

I've never had any bleeding in any pregnancy so I can't advise there, I'm afraid. It sounds like you need more of an explanation from your hospital, I.e. should you be expecting to bleed from now on or not?

I would say bleeding is always a triage call.

Hi, I had exactly the same during my third pregnancy. Cervical ectropion which caused many episodes of heavy bleeding starting at 7 weeks.

Personally I called EPU and then triage every time there was a bleed but was only asked to come in with bigger bleeds, not spotting. I was told that ectropion bleeds should not hurt so when I started getting contractions and pain with bleeding at 26 weeks I went to get checked and it turned out that I now had a partial placental abruption as well as the ectropion. Baby ended up being born at 31+3 but she was all fine. My waters broke the day before at 31+2 as they were irritated from all the bleeding.

So I'd definitely still call if there is any bleeding and I'd be watching for any pain to make sure that it's still just the ectropion, but I think it's likely that bleeding might continue though the whole pregnancy x

Thanks for your reply that’s reassuring, no cramping or pain and bleeding is only on wiping, rang triage and they weren’t concerned and told me to pop in if it’s heavier or I get pai’. So just going to rest up for tonight and keep an eye if I get any more spotting.
