PGP in second pregnancy

I’m 14 weeks pregnant with DC2, when pg with DC1 I suffered from awful PGP from 20 weeks and it lasted until I was at least 6 months postpartum. I’m already feeling it with this pregnancy.

Does anyone have any advice on how to treat it? I had an NHS referral in my last pregnancy but it was quite useless. I’m worried I’m going to end up crippled by 40 weeks and I have a toddler to look after.

Hi, I had it with second and third pregnancy. The things that helped me were wearing a pelvic support belt literally all the time, sleeping with a pillow between knees, and no twisting/sudden movements. I avoided stairs as much as possible. I also did aquanatal and birthing ball exercises which I think definitely helped x

No real advice but full sympathy. Had PGP in my first pregnancy before 20 weeks. Started a bit earlier this time and I’m now 29 weeks and yes…. I’m struggling. I have been to see a physio and got exercises to be doing (although with a toddler, I’ve been a bit crap).
They have helped when I do them but the last week I’ve not and it’s got so much worse.
You really do need to go and see a physio for a pelvic assessment. Each case is different and affects each woman in different ways. You need a proper assessment to see how much mobility you have in your pelvis, which side is worse and an assessment of how your back muscles might be contributing etc.
That’s really the only course of action you can take as well as lifestyle adjustments such as how you get in and out of bed, not lifting your toddler (if they allow that of course! Mine is not a fan of this new rule), how you go up stairs (two feet on each step, use the hand rail) etc.
Good luck. I hope it doesn’t get any worse for you and gets better more quickly this time once baby is here.

I suffered horrendously second pregnancy. Unsure if it’s offered everywhere but I found hydrotherapy extremely effective. I found somewhere locally too to continue after my free nhs sessions finished! I work on my feet and wouldn’t have gotten through without it.
