Hi all, has anyone ever been on these? I’m on 400mg in morning and 400 at night, has anyone ever used them rectally rather than vaginally? Everytime I put them in I get a irritated cervix and I get a tiny amount of spotting which I’d rather not have and would much rather do it rectally instead… thankyou all x

I'm on these, you can't use them rectally. Are you sure your using them correctly?

Iv used them for 4 pregnancies and never had spotting..... That sounds really stressful for you. They don't usually like to switch pessaries to cyclogest in the middle but maybe if you spoke to your clinic they would switch you anyway? Cyclogest can be used rectally. Worth asking them surely?

I think I’m gunna ask them to swap to cyclogest so I can use rectally instead, but they’ve given me a Months worth of these ones so think they’ll make me wait until this month is over :(

Also just to add, I have cervical ectroption or how ever you spell it lol, so when ever I put the applicator in and it touches my cervix it irritates it and causing that tiny amount of spotting

I'm surprised they put you on these in the first place then! Did they give a reason for utrogestran rather than cyclogest? I think the default progesterone pessaries is cyclogest, that's what most people are on.

I think because they put me on these for my last pregnancy and they worked they thought they’d try them again, I did have a little spotting with my boy so not sure why I’ve got them again to be honest. I will be asking to change for sure

I'm not sure why you can't just insert them rectally? They're surely just another type of progesterone capsules?

I thought the same tbh, they’ll still melt and absorb surely?

@MummaToDAndJx I'd just pop them up the bum then, it's all mucous membranes across which the progesterone will.get absorbed!

Okay well at least you have a reason for the discomfort. I do think those applicators can't possibly reach to the cervix? Their not that long? Anyway thanks for the update and really hope the discomfort and bleeding stops when the antibiotics kick in! Good luck.

I never used applicators with my progesterone pessaries! Just popped them in with my finger.

With thrush treatments they usually advise not using the included applicator for fear of irritating the cervix so I figured it was the same. Confusing!!
