Unplanned induction - any positive stories?

I found out a couple of days ago (39wks, first child) that due to an episode of reduced movements, the doctors would like to induce me to make sure everything’s okay. All of my monitoring came back fine, and this little monkey seems to be back to normal again.
My biggest and only main concern is making sure baby is okay and well so if I’m offered and induction and it’s in baby’s best interests then that’s what I’ll go with.

I did ask to try 2 sweeps prior to see if they could get things going but after the first I’m not hopeful the second is going to be any better.

I will be honest I’m pretty scared and have heard lots of negative induction stories regarding length of labour, pain and majority ending in emergency c section (also not something I’d turn down in baby’s best interests). It just completely goes off the path I was expecting things to go down, again I understand these things can’t be predicted and babies wellbeing is all that matters. But the fear of the unknown is well and truly here with me…

does anyone have any positive induction stories?

It was my second child so slightly different, but I was induced at 37 weeks. It was fine. Very similar to my first birth, and didn’t need any other interventions.

But I think statistically the fact it was my second makes a difference.

Had the gel, 6 hours start to finish, no pain relief.

I've had 4 inductions and they've all been fine.
1st waters broke for me baby in 7 hours.
2nd was pessary baby in one hour
3rd was the drip. Epidural sorted before pain started. 10 hours
4th the drip again was 12 hours and epidural again

All required no extra interventions. All but last one had a couple of small tears. So it's not always ending in interventions or a section.

Remember you’re entitled to ask for a c section. They won’t offer it in place of induction in this scenario but they would grant it if requested. If you say you’re agreeable to getting baby out early but prefer c section to induction I think they’ll agree. A high proportion of inductions for a first baby end in c section so if you’d be happy with one then I’d go with that

I was induced with dc2. I was 42 weeks and had gone in for them to listen to the heartbeat. DH and 3yo DC1 had dropped me off, then gone for a mooch around the shops while I was hooked up to the monitor. 10 mins after being monitored someone came in to look at the results and said "how do you feel about having the baby today?" I had no baby bag, nothing.

After a phone call to dh, my waters were broken manually, baby was out exactly 2 hours later. 😅

@Hadenough1234567 thank you for your advice. I haven’t got a problem with being induced. I just wanted to hear some positive induction stories.

@skippy67 honestly I went in for monitoring were expecting them to say as the monitoring was fine I’m okay and to go hope but they offered me the induction there and then. I also panicked 😂 I felt so unprepared hence the sweep.

i have now had 2 unsuccessful sweeps and my induction is booked for today so let’s hope and pray it goes smoothly (as a quickly as yours) x

Good luck today! I was induced with both mine at 38 weeks for different reasons. Might not be today the birth actually happens, it took my first DC two pessary doses 24 hours apart and it was the second dose that really kicked things into motion. And it was fast. The positive side to this is your already in hospital and won't have to worry about getting there while in labour. In a way that makes it more relaxing if that is any consolation. My second DC was more problematic but for other reasons.

My biggest advice is to be forthright about what you want and need...I was basically 2 pushes away from giving birth in the ward without realising so had to be wheeled super fast into the delivery suite.
