Hi!

Any mums with tips on workouts during late pregnancy?

I am 33 weeks and switching up my workout routine a bit. I have stopped running and shifted to walking for cardio and lighter lifting. Trying to stay fit as best I can.

How come you stopped running?
I remember running in late 3rd and it basically being a glorified walk with extra pep for the speed I was doing 😅

No real tips, just well done for still doing movement!

Thank you!!!

I hurt my knee several years ago, and I think the extra weight I’ve gained has added pressure and created soreness. Walking doesn’t bother it, but running has started to.

Could you do a spin class and raise the handlebars as high as they can go?

jill5676 · 17/06/2025 17:57

Bumps and Burpees online workouts are fantastic.

Bummer! Knee injuries are the worst, I can't even do 1km without a support.
Also using a belly band these days already 😅
Do you find swimming helpful with your joints? I know it's a commonly suggested activity for those growing and extra human

ACL tear from playing sports years ago😬.

I did run earlier today already regretting it with the slight knee discomfort. Swimming is great for me, I don’t get the opportunity to do it enough.

I have looked into a belly band lol. How far along are you?

Only 20 weeks, but I think I've hit that block where I'm starting to slow everything down a little. My weights feel heavier and my legs feel like lead 😅
Ooohh I empathise on the tear 😬
Funny, swimming always bothered me more than on ground stuff 😂 still love it though

Congratulations!

I totally know the heavy leg feeling! At this stage is sets in pretty quick when I start moving. lol

Looking at belly bands, if you have a recommendation on a brand feel free to share.

Wrist and ankle weights when you walk?

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 18/06/2025 13:52

With my first it was lockdown so I did lots of walking with or without the dog, and compound movements with a kettle bell.
Basically, if it feels good do it, usual rules like "dont bump the bump" apply, no sit ups but planks are OK, no extremely heavy weights lifted above the head.
Low impact youtube home workout videos be good.
Im around the same amount of weeks with my 3rd and running around after 2 toddlers plus the housework is enough for me for now haha!!!

MauriceTheMussel · 18/06/2025 15:47

I wouldn’t do the planks for fear of coning

MsNevermore · 18/06/2025 15:50

I normally hate swimming….but loved it during all 3 of my pregnancies, especially at the tail end!
Felt like I’d done a good workout without feeling like I’d overdone it, and the water felt blissful for taking the edge of the pelvic girdle pain I had with babies 2 & 3.

I second this.
Planks aren't great, but easy to modify with bear pose of side plank or reverse plank.
Weights over the head also very good as you engage your core properly

Also with regards to the recommendation for belly band @AshJ1997. Mine is just a generic amazon buy couldn't even tell you what the label is 😅 its not actually a pregnancy one, it's one I use regularly for back support (after an injury) but I like the support and elastic over the bump for running. Doesn't feel like it's got a different gravitation pull that way

I did regular planks with my first 2 pregnancies was absolutely fine, just didn't tense too hard or for too long.
Carrying toddlers and lots of up and down stairs and housework has been sufficient exercise for me this time around 😂
