Early pregnancy cramps

Hi All!

So I tested positive at 8dpo, I had a pinching feeling on one side below, on and off. I'm now 11dpo, and had one very strong period like cramp (along with the pinch) for about 5-10 mins. It felt like a really bad period cramp.
I've tried searching whether this is implantation or something else.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? I'd ask for advice through NHS but I've only done my referral today and can't seem to speak to anyone until they call back. I'm a bit worried, this is my first at 31yo

Thanks <3

Hi, I found out I was pregnant two days ago (I’m 32 and this is my first) and I had a small amount of implantation bleeding around 11 DPO and then the following two days I had period like cramps for around 5 mins on both mornings which made me think my period was on its way. I then tested around 6 days later and got my positive. I think this is totally normally in the first few weeks to experience period feeling cramps which are actually either implantation, uterus expanding, normal changes etc. I totally understand the worry as I’m in the same boat and overanalysing every little symptom or feeling! We have booked an early scan for what we think will be 6-7 weeks - maybe consider doing this too so it’s not so long of a wait until your first NHS appointment? It’s around £55.

Congratulations ❤️

That is a fantastic idea, I didn't even know that was an option so early on!
Thank you so much, you've put my mind at ease.
Hope all goes well, congratulations to you too!

Just to jump on and say if you are going to book an early scan I would wait until 8 weeks, at 6ish there’s a relatively high chance of not detecting a heartbeat simply because it’s too soon. Worth holding on for a couple more. Congratulations! Your body does crazy things when pregnant, all sorts of pains and cramps will happen throughout so try not to overthink! Getting through these first few weeks is the hardest bit, hopefully after this you can relax a bit!

Me neither but a few of my friends did this. When I called to book earlier I wasn’t sure how far along I am and they advise at least 2 weeks since your positive test - and also if you give them the dates of your first day of your last period and general length of cycles they will be able to advise. They said that I should be around 4 weeks 5 days so we’ve booked for 2 weeks time. I think if you go before 6 weeks you can only see the sac but they advised after this then you should hopefully be able to see the tiny baby and see the heartbeat 🥲 we’ve booked for around 7 weeks just to be sure.

chat GPT has also been my best friend with all my worries about twinges, symptoms etc 🤣

best of luck with it all xx
