Private prescription for progesterone

Hi,
has anyone had a private prescription for progesterone in very early pregnancy?
I have had 2 missed miscarriages and am due to see Tommy’s recurrent miscarriage service in August. I think I have just had another positive test. I really want progesterone prescribed. I also don’t have loads of money so wondering if anyone could share how much it cost all in?
I have loads left over from my previous miscarriage but obvs don’t want to use that and then run out and not be given more. Thank you x

I had utrogestan up to 12 weeks via a private gynae. The tablets were only about £2 a day (12 years ago admittedly) but the consultation was maybe £200. Wishing you all the very best.

I’ve had 3 children when I was younger and now an older mum I’ve had two losses, one of which was last month, I am now pregnant again and asked my dr for progesterone she called the EMU and they said no, not until I’ve had a scan at 6 weeks and only if I start to bleed 😩😩

I’m based in London and discovered Asda Pharmacy sells them for half the price of my private clinic. In Asda, as of last week, cyclogest pessaries cost £12.96 per pack (15 pessaries but can also be sold individually). You will obviously need a prescription though. Good luck OP.

This is exactly what has happened to me. I was prescribed progesterone last time at 6.5 weeks following a scan after bleeding but it was too late. I really want this to be prescribed but seems like no one will do it until you bleed which seems so backwards

Thank you! It’s the prescription that I’m struggling with! I think I would have to pay £240 for an assessment with a private clinic to then be considered which is just not an option for us at the moment. It’s all so hard and scary isn’t it

It’s not so much the cost of the medication, it’s the cost of the private consultation to get the prescription which is typically £200-250

I did have to pay £250 for private consultation with obstetrics consultant who was very pro giving progesterone. There's no way round the cost unfortunately. If you have enough for a few weeks could you take them (as long as in date) and get scan at 6 weeks and tell them you've been taking some and they should then give it to you. Good luck

You can get some via an online pharmacy for about £30. You usually just fill in the consultation form.

Here is one, others are available.
