Hi everyone,
I’ve already registered for maternity care at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and have my first appointment with them on Friday. I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences there – good or bad – just to help me feel more prepared and know what to expect.
In particular, I’m be interested in knowing about labour and delivery support
Thank you so much for sharing!

I don't have direct experience but as no one else has replied I thought I'd say something! My friend had a good experience there with both of children - she felt well supported and certainly didn't share her birth story in a scary way even though she did have to stay a couple of days after each of births.

I had my children at St Thomas'

Hopefully others will be able to post with more specific info.

Thank you so much for the info - It’s reassuring to hear that your friend felt well supported and didn’t have a negative experience, even with a slightly longer stay.
You mentioned you had your children at St Thomas’. That’s actually somewhere I’ve considered too, although it’s a bit further away for me. Would you mind sharing what the maternity care was like there?
Thanks again!

I had my two at C&W in 2013 and 2016. So it was a while ago but I found it great. I had both in the midwife led unit although the full unit they have now wasn't open when I had my first.

I had a water birth with my first and a my second just came too quickly to fill the pool. The midwife led unit was lovely - great big room to Labour and deliver in. I was left alone until close to the end and then we'll supported.

With my 2nd I was also lucky that the postnatal ward was full so I got to stay in the delivery room overnight which has a double bed and meant DH could stay and not disturb any other women.

Nothing bad to say really.

I had my daughter there. Very busy hospital but I felt well cared for throughout. The postnatal ward was very loud and busy but I think that's pretty standard in a hospital in a big city. Couldn't fault my care though

I was very happy with st Thomas's. I was on midwife led and the midwives were so lovely and even when they swapped for shifts/ breaks this was all well explained and I felt well supported in labour. As sometime else said, postnatal was busy and a bit hectic but I think that is the same for everyone!

I just read another thread about C&W! Let me find it for you :)

I had fertility treatment at Guys / St Thomas and then both my deliveries at St Georges. But also hear C&W spoken of well by others who gave birth there.

Thank you so much for the link – that’s super helpful! 😊 And big thanks to for your feedback too – it’s been so reassuring and informative reading through everyone’s experiences. 💛
