I thought about the staff doing them day in, day out. It’s absolutely routine for them. If anything does go wrong, you are in the best place possible.

Haggisfish3 · 09/06/2025 19:53

Tell them you are nervous as well-I got sensitive slipped in! 😜

Echobelly · 09/06/2025 19:56

It'll be much calmer than an emergency one. Honestly I enjoyed both of mine (planned due to medical issue, although officially the second was 'emergency' as I went into labour 8 hours before I was due in!), they were very relaxed.

RobinHeartella · 09/06/2025 19:57

My planned section went so so much better than the emergency one. The recovery was a thousand times easier, i lost a fraction of the blood as I hadn't been in labour (for days...) so my womb contracted easier. I was up and about sooner afterwards and needed fewer painkillers. It was like night and day.

Everything will be fine op. This is best way of giving birth in my opinion!

You got this OP, you have done it before and you can do it again. This time things will be less rushed. The Consultant Obs may decide to play some of his favourite music like they did with me. Funny things I remember (2 EMCS, 2 planned). The midwives brewing up whilst everything was prepared in theatre, I asked for a G & T, they couldnt help with that one. The anaesthetist singing to me in his first language to reassure me because of a high risk pregnancy, which was lovely. Remember, it doesnt take long for you to meet your lovely baby. Sending best wishes.

Why would you be sick. I had 2 emergency then an elected c section what are you worried about if you had 2 before. I found it very relaxed as I woke up in the morning and new my son would be born that morning so wasn't a shock like an emergency c section.

I’ve got emetophobia, I am excited but also very nervous x

I had an emergency c section 2 hours after I’d eaten something and it was all absolutely fine so don’t worry about choking or sick etc you’ll be fine x

lovemycbf · 10/06/2025 20:21

I’ve had 2 sections
first was emergency
second elective.
like you I was nervous the second time but honestly it was absolutely ok
once there. when waiting to go into theatre just think about the lovely new baby you’re about to meet.
best of luck to you it will be fine

littleweedandherflowers · 10/06/2025 20:22

Like you I was far more nervous for my elective and truthfully I did find it a bit scarier. This was because I was completely aware of everything that went on. They could have chopped my legs off in my EMCS and I wouldn't have cared, I was so over giving birth.

Having said that, the recovery was so much easier. I'd had a full night of sleep beforehand and by mid afternoon I was watching Broadchurch, drinking an iced coffee with a snuggly newborn.

Good luck 👍

I’ve had two OP and both have been really good experiences. Very calm, all staff chatty and kind, explained what was going on. Had some music on, my last one they asked me if I had a name already and wrote her name on the board just before she came out ready for her time of delivery, was really lovely seeing her name there waiting for her to be delivered. Both recovery’s great but second one even better, was up and out properly within the week - except for the driving as had to wait a bit longer for that. X

I had an ELCS on Friday, though I use the term elective loosely - it was booked in very last minute due to baby being breech. I was terrified as I hadn't mentally prepped for a CS - I spent all pregnancy getting ready for a vaginal birth. However the experience was so calm. I was able to connect my phone to their speaker and listen to my music. A midwife acted as our personal photographer during the section. The anaesthetist talked me through everything and sat with me the whole time during the op. The staff were chatty and friendly with each other and us throughout, it was like we were at a social occasion! I'd do it again in a heartbeat and reflecting back over the worries I had the night before, they were all completely unwarranted. You're meeting your baby today! I hope it goes/went well for you xx

Friedseasalt · 11/06/2025 09:55

I have never had a section so don’t really have any tips on staying calm but just wanted to say I hope all goes well for you today!!! How exciting you are going to meet your baby xx
