Medication for nausea

I'm 4 weeks+6 days pregnant and my nausea has been full force for a full week. Thankfully not being sick.

I have a huge aversion to all foods to the point where I struggled to do the online shopping. Opening the fridge makes me feel sick. I am just about managing to stomach bread, cashew nuts and crackers but pretty much everything else turns my stomach.

This is my third pregnancy and, although I did have bad sickness last time, it wasn't this severe this early. The adversion to food is new.

Has anyone tried anything that actually works? Please do not recommend ginger! I am so sick of hearing about ginger!

Cyclizine was the only thing that worked for me. My nausea was debilitating, I couldn't work, I could barely get off the sofa and I lost 2kg in a week. I was surviving on a few chocolate buttons and sips of cherry coke, i couldn't stomach anything else. GP prescribed it over the phone and i was back at work a week later.

I feel ya! I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and the nausea and aversions have been HORRIFIC since about 5 weeks. I’ve literally just nibbled dry carbs such as cheese straws and plain salted crisps 🤣🤣 the best things I’ve found are the travel sickness wristbands, although hiding them from people at work was a bit of a challenge when it was warmer and I wanted to wear short sleeves! They didn’t get rid of it, but I found they made it slightly more manageable. The past few days have been slightly better too, so I don’t know if my body is tricking me or I’m coming out the other side, fingers crossed it’s the latter! Take care of yourself xxx

Arrowroot biscuits - my mil introduced these to me.

flat coke

I had acupuncture and then wore sea sickness bands. Didn’t make it go away but did at least make it manageable.

I'm 19 + 2 and the nausea and vomiting never stopped for me after the first trimester. Go to your doctor. They'll give you cyclizine first which worked for about a week and then it didn't. My midwife told me to request xonvea. I went back to my GP and they gave me xonvea and metaclopramide which has helped ever since. Honestly wish I had gone to my GP sooner!

Tried a bunch. Nothing worked. Went to pregnancy helpline and everything. They said ask for Xonvea. New to nhs but been around 30 years + with a great track record. Had to tell GP nope not having anything else! First time she had prescribed it. Life changing. Literally took one pill next morning normal again.

And honestly can I just add the conversation with GP was ridiculous. I said why won’t you prescribe Xonvea. What’s the difference?! She said the difference is the safety profile. I said so you are saying this is unsafe. She said no - it’s the only anti sickness drug which is licensed as safe specifically for pregnant woman (ie. On label ; cylizine and others are off label use). So I said so you are saying this is safe and tested specifically in pregnant women. She said yes. So I was like what?! Well prescribe it then godammit!!!!

Thanks all.

I’ve just put in a request with my GP, but this same GP has an awful understanding of reproductive help so I don’t hold out much hope!
