11 weeks and still feel rotten

I’m 11 weeks pregnant today with my second baby, the nausea, sickness and fatigue has been on another level compared to with my first DC. By this point in my previous pregnancy I felt much better; most of my nausea was gone and I had more energy. Is it normal to still feel so awful?

I feel sick all day, usually I am vomiting by evening or have to lay down so I don’t vomit. I’m so exhausted, my legs and arms ache all day and I can hardly stay awake. I’m still working full time which I’m struggling with as DS1 is only 14 months so hard work. It’s now the weekend and I just want to stay in bed but can’t as have to look after DS.

Is anyone else still struggling at this stage? When did it get better?

pregnancy with a toddler is another level, I really struggled too OP. Is your partner supportive?

Leapfrogslight · 06/06/2025 20:54

He says he is supportive but I’m not sure he really gets it. For example I compress my full times hours working 8-6 Mon to Thurs to then work 9-12 Fridays. This is so I can look after DS. DH seems to think I’ve had Friday afternoon off so I should feel better? I think he forgets that I am working full time still.

I felt awful until about 14/15 weeks - had to nap every lunchtime (luckily I could work from home) and felt nauseous all day. I really thought that was going to be my whole pregnancy as everyone said when you hit 12 weeks you’ll feel so much better and I felt so rotten still! Hope you start to feel better soon x

Hi, are you taking medication for your sickness? It can really help.

16 weeks for me I'm afraid. Both times.

Pinches · 06/06/2025 21:11

Hate to say it but I was sick right up til labour with all of mine.

Omg parenting a toddler when pregnant is inhumane at times! No advice just solidarity, I spent the whole of my pregnancy with DD2 napping at lunch 🥲

Mama09876 · 06/06/2025 21:12

I could have wrote this post! Honestly 2nd pregnancy’s just hit differently! Especially with a toddler to look after plus full time work.

if it makes you feel any better, I felt exactly the same as you up until this week (currently 13 weeks) I was hating it truth be told, I couldn’t remember feeling so rotten with my 1st (I’m sure I did) but finally starting to have some energy back! And sickness/nausea is subsiding.

Hopefully, with the end of the 1st trimester in sight for you, the 2nd will be more enjoyable and manageable! 🤞🏻🤍

I have tried a few antisickness tablets but all of them have made me feel incredibly drowsy and not helped the nausea, which I find just as debilitating.

To be honest I should go back and ask for another but I’ve also found the dr receptionists to be less than friendly when I say I’m calling about pregnancy sickness, which really puts me off!

I felt shocking until 16 weeks with my second pregnancy, and running after a toddler didn’t help. Second trimester was manageable but exhausting, then third trimester I was a shell of a person!! Never expected pregnancy to be so hard, and with a toddler it was just so so hard.

unfortunately you need to find a way to let some things slide and standards drop (eg house cleaning) and then your husband needs to pick up the rest!

Leapfrogslight · 06/06/2025 21:14

I also think it’s tiredness and screens that make my nausea worse. I had a couple of days off work last week and had more energy in the evenings and felt less sick.

There's 21 months between my 2. I felt like death until 17/18 weeks with my first and 14 weeks with my second. Pregnancy with a toddler is brutal. Hope you start to feel better soon!

DS is generally a good sleeper unless he’s not well but he’s so active during the day, it’s exhausting chasing after him! I told DH I physically had no energy left this evening to put him to bed and he looked at me like I’m mad, but it was true!

Up to 20 weeks for me, being sick anything from 5-11 times a day. It only stopped when I started taking xonvea- couldn’t recommend it enough. Even now at 30 weeks i start to feel queasy if I’m late taking my medication, and at about 25 weeks I was out and didn’t have a pill with me (my own silly fault) and I threw up about an hour after it was due, proving to me that even now if I wasn’t on xonvea I’d probably be just as sick as I was at the start!

How many different anti sickness drugs did you try before they gave you this? I’ve tried Cyclizine and stematil which have done nothing except make me sleepy.

I was on cyclizine for about two or three weeks and it didn’t absolutely nothing for me. Not familiar with stematil, ask for some xonvea and I really hope it helps you like it helped me, good luck!!

I really feel for you OP, I was so sick up to about 16 weeks, feeling horrendous all day everyday, and throwing up at least a couple of times a day. I don't have a toddler so it's definitely not just a second child thing, every pregnancy is just different. Take hope in the fact that most people do start to feel better into the second trimester 💕
