FTM with Twins London

Hi,

I just found out I am pregnant with twins and am a complete wreck. We are currently renting in a small one bed apartment. We were close to completing on a two bed flat but will need to pull from that now as it’s much too small for 4 people.

I am dreading the thinking about finances due to us having to now rent a bigger flat/ double baby costs and Childcare. Every thread on new twin parents makes me cry as if seems to be all doom and gloom.

Can anyone give me advice on being a FTM with twins? What area in London do you live in and can give me an idea of childcare costs?

Thanks

Don't pull out of the flat. The babies will be in with you for at least the first six months, and that could easily be a year depending on how they settle at night. You won't actually need more space until they are proper children - maybe four? That will give you time to get things sorted.

Try following Fab & Ell on YouTube. They have 2 year old twins but documented everything from their fertility journey to today and are such an enjoyable watch and show all the ups and downs of their twin life!! I love it :) hope it makes you feel better. You will just make it work - it all comes together in the end :) congratulations and good luck x

Hi, firstly congrats 👏 aside from the worry (which is very natural) I hope you're doing well?
I don't have twins but I do have a 3m old baby. In a similar situation as in we live in a teeny tiny rented house. Looks like a shoebox and there is literally no space anywhere. I also was panicking but as the previous post says, babies are small and initially don't take up much room.
I've made the decision not to have gimmicky things that take up extra room, such as those large play mats with the dangly bits for example. I do floor time with a little foldable mat. We have one cot for him to sleep in, in our bedroom in the corner. Etc . Babies don't need much 🥰 I'm trying to declutter daily as the cramped size of our house is overwhelming at the best of times. It is possible to have babies in small spaces. Don't rush into moving house though. Good luck and take it one day at a time. X

Thanks everyone. I was so happy when I found out we were expecting but since finding out it’s twins I am racked with nerves constantly thinking I won’t be able to handle it.
