Mirena during csection

Has anyone had a mirena coil inserted during csection

hospital does not offer tubes being tied but does offer this and I am strongly considering it as I am done having babies and this current baby I was on the pill so don’t want to trust it really.

I know someone who had this and the coil came out during the post partum bleeding without her realising. She ended up having an abortion as her baby was still very little. I don’t know how rare this is though, so worth looking at the stats.

My community midwife also said she’d delivered two babies with coil’s wedged in the placenta. But this probably still falls within the 99% effective range.

Have you asked why they won't tie your tubes during delivery?
If it's something you want I'd absolutely be pushing for it, or requesting for the op shortly after birth.
I've found a lot of women are told they aren't allowed to have it purely because the hcp thinks they "might change their mind" about having more children.
With regards to the coil, I'd be highly cautious of trusting it as the only preventative method especially if this baby is a contraceptive baby.
I've read so many stories on here about ladies who have become pregnant with it still in place.

I have been told that they do not do sterilisation during csection at all at the hospital I deliver and it is not an option. My only option is the coil or going back on the pill as I will have to go through gp and I imagine there will be a waiting list.

which sucks giving the fact that I am very highl risk and do not want to be pregnant again.

If you need to be sterilised I’d look at giving birth at another hospital. I don’t know what your options are, my nearest hospital is nearly an hour away, but you don’t want to go through a separate procedure to tie your tubes. That’s nuts!

@Alicejuniper Could you look at getting the arm implant straight away, and then book in asap for tubes tied? A bit of a hassle but maybe a good compromise if you can't get tubes tied during c-section.
