Comfortable next to me

Hello,

Can someone recommend a comfortable next to me. I do not want one where the mattress is really hard as honestly don't blame little ones for not wanting to sleep on them, I wouldn't!

I got my first little one the snuzpod and even bought the upgraded mattress but it was just simply too hard. After sleep deprivation kicked in, ended up cosleeping. I am having another one and do not want to cosleep this time.

I am specially looking for either a comfortable next to me or a sleep aid that is comfortable?

Please no suggests some as; put a t-shirt that you've worn, hot water bottle ect.. these things do not work

If the problem is the mattress, can't you just buy a different mattress?

You don't have to buy from the same brand - you can get one made to measure that is as soft or firm as you want (as long as appropriate for a newborn - you don't want it to be too soft).

But how do you know that the problem is that the mattress is too hard and not something else?

Some babies just don't settle in a next to me because of wanting to be closer to mum, etc. It might not be the mattress that is the problem?

The reason they're all like this is that young babies need a firm mattress for safe sleep.

All cot mattresses are hard, not just next to me ones. It’s a safety thing to prevent SIDS

HoppingPavlova · 03/06/2025 14:19

Standards mean babies mattresses are very firm to prevent their faces potentially sinking into them if they roll over.

As above. It should be firm. It’s unlikely to be the mattress that’s the issue and just that babies dont like being in them. Try a Moses, smaller so feels less open to the baby

If you don't want to co-sleep, just buy an ordinary cot. I put all my babies in one, straight from birth.

Babies' mattresses have to be firm for the prevention of cot death.

As others have said, the mattress needs to be very firm for babies to prevent SIDS. Please don’t put the baby on a soft squishy mattress. It’s very dangerous.
