Hi I was looking for some advice please, I’ve had a massive shock today of a positive pregnancy test, my missed period I’ve been thinking I’m in early menopause…I took a first response as I had some spare from when I was TTC and something come to me while I was cleaning as my boobs are so sore today and I thought could it be…rule it out! So I didn’t the test and the result come up straight away within seconds, so I did a clear blue and the result was there before the control panel had even absorbed any unrine, so I went and got a clear blue digital and it said Pregnant within seconds and then flashed up 2-3 weeks but I will be 7 weeks as I log and track everything…is this something to worry about? I have attached pics of my tests..thank you

I think the urgent symptoms of ectopic would be vaginal bleeding and/or one sided abdominal pain or shoulder tip pain. If you experience any of these go to A&E immediately, don't wait for your appointment.

Other than that I would ask when you go to get blood taken as they should be able to tell you what to look for. It's good they are seeing you so promptly. They usually take blood two days apart so they can check how the levels are increasing. Fingers crossed it's just earlier on than you thought, which can be the case if you ovulated later than you realised or you did have a period at the start of May. Stronger positive on a new test is a good sign. Good luck for tomorrow 🍀

I will look out for those thank you!! And yeah this mornings cheap test at the bottom is nice and strong but will just have to wait and see, what’s will be will be and I will certainly keep you updated thank you so much for your advice ❤️

A friend recently had a blighted ovum where the embryo had not developed. There was a sac visible in the womb on her scan but nothing in it. Her pregnancy tests were really strong so they looked for an ectopic but the hcg levels were growing slightly because the sac itself was growing, but sadly there was no baby in it.

Honestly never even heard of these things it’s so sad 😞 they couldn’t find anything in my womb they have given me an image to take with me today and there is nothing there at all…no symptoms so far of any pain or bleeding, just started with horrendously sore boobs two days ago which is what led me to take the first test and frequent toilet trips which is unusual for me as I don’t hardly drink anything but other than that not a lot x

Just and update!! Been to the hospital they were brilliant, so thankful for our NHS!! They give me a thorough internal scan and confirmed they can’t find anything in the womb, she said my womb looks healthy and everything seems ok she said hand on heart she thinks I’m just earlier than I believe to be, did a urine test they are happy it was a confirmed positive and I have had bloods done and waiting for results of those to see which way we go from there. If the HCG levels are high they would know I’m 7/8 weeks and would expect to see something in the womb and will know the baby could be somewhere else and that takes us one way but they will know from the level if I’m 4-5 weeks and it may be too early if that’s the case then I will have to have more bloods to see if they are rising or falling or rising but very slow..unlikely to be miscarriage as no pain and bleeding since 10th April when last period happened…this is honestly awful 😞 x

Argh that being in limbo part is horrible. Hope you can find something to distract you for the next couple of days. Some people like to use the mantra "Today I am pregnant" to help manage the worry x

everychildmatters · 03/06/2025 16:41

All the best of luck! 💐 x

ThisOpenLimeDuck · 03/06/2025 19:12

Had a call from the hospital my levels are over 6000 so they would expect to see something in the womb with that reading 😞 got to go for another scan tomorrow with a consultant as it would appear to be a ectopic pregnancy most likely. So sad had the worst year as it is honestly not sure how much more I can’t take, thought this was a blessing of light in such a dark time x

Sorry to hear that OP. I think sometimes early pregnancy services get womens' hopes up with telling them their dates are wrong and they're just too early, everything is ok etc. When in majority of cases, women know their own cycles and know that they are not earlier in the pregnancy than they thought. My friend I mentioned earlier was 10 weeks pregnant, was scanned due to a bleed. She was measuring 4 weeks and they told her she had her dates wrong, but sadly the pregnancy had simply stopped developing at 4 weeks and she had had an early miscarriage.

It’s like when I went to EPU, and explained I couldn’t be any earlier as I had first tested positive at 9dpo, she was still giving me that same line. Then told me off for using a CB weeks indicator when I mentioned I hadn’t got the 3+ weeks when I expected to. I tried to explain that I’d estimated the doubling of the HCG to try and work out when to take it (as I had read the different threshold levels for the different readings) and she looked at me like I had two heads…

Oh I was told about the CB weeks indicator too she said if she had it her way they wouldn’t be allowed to be sold as they are very unreliable, It’s like they think we don’t know our own bodies x

When most of the time it appears to be them who don’t really know how they work 😂. I mean obviously they’re going to to be a little bit approximate in terms of being dependent on how fast your HCG rises, but I think they’re fine for working out if things are heading in the right direction or not.

BertieBotts · 04/06/2025 14:29

Oh no, I'm so sorry OP Flowers was also hoping for good news for you.

Thank you so much everyone!! Been to the hospital again today scanned for 3rd day on the run still no sign of pregnancy in the womb, had a very long and thorough scan today right ovary is perfect, womb is looking good, left ovary is covered by my bowel we tried everything but had no joy she said what she can see of the left ovary there is no lumps and bumps but can’t see anything further. Two options were be put to sleep and have a telescope to see the left ovary and if there is a baby have it removed, or blood test tomorrow and check HCG levels if they have doubled scan again in a few days, if they have dropped things are happening naturally and if they are hovering around the same as yesterdays they will have to go in for the telescope..I got upset and said it’s hard to know because there is no solid answers if they said yes the baby is there we can see then fine but it’s all ifs buts and maybes and it’s making it hard to me to not have hope which she as I have no bleeding or pain she was very understanding, and based off that has allowed me home on the promise if any of them symptoms do occur I go straight back as time is of the essence for my own health, so back tomorrow for another scan and more bloods…honestly wish it was more straightforward, the scans it’s literally traumatic hoping everyday that something appears..I asked what the chances are of my HCG levels being what they are and I’m still to early but she said very slim to none…so much to take in x

@ThisOpenLimeDuck Sorry you're in such an awful limbo. The good thing is you are being closely monitored which is really important. Have your HGC levels changed/risen/dropped?

I’ve heard many bad stories about the EPU and this kind of subject but I have been so well looked after they have been really good!! I’ve only had one set of bloods done on Tuesday and the levels were 6500 so pretty good but would also suggest that a baby would be present in this womb at that level, Urine tests are getting stronger everyday. So if they double today on bloods they will monitor with scans and bloods, if they drop they will monitor as my body is doing the work naturally if they stay the same I have to have to camera and potentially surgery…but kind of hoping it’s dealt with today one way or another!! Tests are Sunday to today so really hard not to have hope though deep down I’m aware that it’s likely ectopic and not too early xxx
