Symptoms completely disappeared at 8w

All I hear is the symptoms are supposed to ramp up around 8w but mine have… completely disappeared.

I’ve had mild to moderate nausea since week 6.5 ish weeks and sore nipples since 5w, both until 8w. Now 8w2d and over the last 2 days symptoms have gradually lessened and now completely disappeared. I’m so worried!!

It’s a euploid embryo and we saw a heartbeat at 7w1d but still really unsettling. Could it be a missed miscarriage?

I have been reading that once the placenta takes over (8-12 weeks?) symptoms can lessen. I've also seen that a missed miscarriage doesn't necessarily result in lack of symptoms. Try not to worry, more like than not its absolutely fine!

Havekidstheysaid · 31/05/2025 22:27

Hey there. I had this around the same time too and like you was very worried especially as I had previously had an early miscarriage. I ended up with a scan on the EPU and baby was absolutely fine. I also had fluctuating symptoms during my second successful pregnancy. Maybe have a chat with your midwife when you can though if you’re worried? Sending lots of hugs x

annabelfr · 31/05/2025 22:31

@Wednesdayonlineyes I’ve read that too about missed miscarriages! Although some say you do lose symptoms during a mmc and some say that there’s literally no warning signs, the symptoms can stay…

It’s completely normal. But if you are worried you can definitely ask your midwife if you have one yet?

my first and third pregnancy I had hyperemis and was ill until 7/8 months of pregnancy, my second pregnancy I had mild nausea and vomiting which disappeared suddenly at around 8 weeks also, because my first pregnancy I was so ill I automatically assumed it meant something bad that my symptoms had completely disappeared, my son is now almost 8!

you may find you have easier days too, tomorrow you might be back to feeling sick, or that could be it… I definitely wouldn’t be worrying just yet and enjoy it whilst you can as it may come back on. But if it puts your mind at rest definitely have a chat with your midwife.

@Havekidstheysaidagree - I think part of the reason I’m worried is that I’ve had a previous miscarriage, although that was very much a non-missed miscarriage, I just began bleeding at just under 6w.
this time I’ve had minimal symptoms throughout, basically no cramps (I did have lots of cramps with my daughter, born a few years ago) which makes me wonder if the baby was even growing last couple of weeks

@Zaina89i don’t have a midwife yet, it’s an IVF pregnancy so I have my clinic but my doc is very difficult to get hold of (understandable I guess - he’s busy and has lots of patients) and the nurses seem clueless and have given wrong info on numerous occasions so I don’t trust them

also, thank you, that’s so reassuring to hear it’s happened in your pregnancies too

I know how concerning it is. I had the same thing at 5 weeks but the symptoms did come back.

Even though you're under the clinic for IVF you could still try and call the EPU and ask go be checked out. Are you in the UK? In the UK you can call them explain your issue and ask to have a scan before 12 weeks. I'm not sure about other countries.

annabelfr · 01/06/2025 06:07

@Sunshine1621 that’s useful to know, thank you. Yes, in the U.K.

IVF pregnancy here too. I had fluctuating symptoms in my first trimester, but mostly non-existent overall. Some days I'd be a bit nauseous, most days right as rain. I had cramping up until about 8 weeks. I remember asking about cramping at the viability scan and the nurse said it was likely caused by my ovaries recovering from egg collection and to expect it to subside from 8 weeks onwards, which it did. Otherwise my only symptoms were tiredness and sore boobs (but again, not all the time). By the second trimester I had no symptoms at all other than a growing bump. I'm almost 39 weeks now and all is well (other than a breech baby, scuppering all my birthing plans!).

Wishing you lots of luck, try not to worry. Unfortunately until your booking appointment there's not really any support or guidance out there. If you're feeling concerned and things are taking a while to get moving appointment wise (my trust was SO slow - I didn't see a midwife until after 10 weeks), maybe consider an early reassurance scan? I had one at 11 weeks because my "12 week" NHS scan was scheduled to be on the later side (I had it between 13 and 14 weeks), and it made me so much more relaxed once I'd seen the baby for myself.

This happened to me both times OP & found out it's quite normal.

I paid for a private scan

AnonKat · 01/06/2025 07:04

Happened to me. The it got worse at 10-12 weeks. Nearly 13 weeks and starting to calm down a bit again. Baby is healthy 🙂

annabelfr · 01/06/2025 08:44

@xMrsxHx87x thank you!! I think I’d worry a lot less if mine were non existent to start with, it’s the sudden disappearance that I find so disturbing.

yes I think I’ll book an early reassurance scan. I’ve had a booking appointment (is that a booking appointment when it’s your first pregnancy scan at the ivf clinic and when they discharge you?) at 7w1d and saw a heartbeat of 147

@AliBaliBee1234@AnonKat thank you!! Can I ask if everything completely disappeared and which symptoms?

No, the booking appointment is your first with the NHS assigned midwife, it's nothing to do with the IVF clinic. It's meant to happen between 8-10 weeks of pregnancy. To access this, you need to register the pregnancy with your local health authority. Different areas do it in different ways - in my area, I had to fill in an online form and then wait for them to contact me. In some places it's done via your GP. I'd Google it in the first instance, and if in doubt, give your GP a call. I found it very confusing but it was my GP surgery who pointed me in the right direction!

Only symtom that has been consistent is breast pain. Nausea disappeared for a week, then came back worse. Week 12 I gagged at everything and heaved constantly.

I had hardly any pregnancy symptoms apart from tiredness which is very vague and something I suffer with anyway as I have an ongoing autoimmune condition. I found it very frustrating as there was no symptoms to provide reassurance and the idea that everyone is throwing up constantly when pregnant if of course not true. I kept being asked about cravings and nausea etc which I just didn’t have.
so I wouldn’t worry at this stage too much/ as long as you’ve not had a bleed or anything xxx
