Good options in London to get fitted for a nursing bra? looking for comfortable options

I am 31 weeks pregnant so I think I still need to wait a few weeks to get fitted for a nursing bra, but I'm not sure when and where to go for a fitting. Somewhere in London with a good range would be good.

I have happily worn yoga style crop tops in pregnancy so I am hoping to find something comfortable. Can anyone recommend comfortable seamfree options?

Any ideas or things to avoid would be really useful

Rule of thumb, if a shop assistant approaches you with a tape measure, walk away! A decent corsetiere will know your size from sight. Rigby and Peller are the best but tend to be expensive. Bravissimo are fantastic and a little cheaper. I use both in London but tend to go for the fitting and buy cheaper on the net! Wait till baby has dropped a little as your ribs will move back into place, ideally 36 weeks or beyond. The Hotmilk range are really sexy, don't think either of the stores mentioned stock them but easily ordered online.

for seamfree comfort in a crop-top style you can't beat Bravado bras - they're the polar opposite of Hotmilk and each size spans several sizes (iyswim) so will still fit as your ribs shrink and your milk comes in.

Cityangel As Gilly mentioned, Rigby and Peller in London are really good. Although they are quite expensive I bought my wedding underwear there and it was really comfortable. They do maternity / nursing stuff too so it might be worth a look at - I think its about £50 a bra though so not the cheapest option.

MrsBadgerI agree they look comfy but their sizes are a bit rubbish. I was a 30G pre pregnancy and am now a 32-34 GG at 32 weeks so they're a bit useless for me as all the support needs to come from the back.

MrsBadger · 21/05/2008 10:24

oh, now a 30G needs serious scaffolding!
Even at my most milky and enormous I was only ever a 32DD so they did me nicely in the early days.

Bravissimo

I was very happy with Peter Jones Sloane Sq. Personally I don't like Hotmilk. Bf bras need to be functional I think (non-pg I am a Hanro-style nude bra girl so that you don't get that hedgehog look poking through your sheer tops anyway). And if you like seamfree it is not for you! I was happy with some of the simpler Emma Jane choices they had at PJ (I need good support) but also had Elle Macpherson and some simpler ones.

Thanks everyone these are really useful hints and tips. I really appreciate it! This gives me a few weeks to look online and then I shall take the boobs out for a fitting test drive!

My colleague recommended a fitting at Peter Jones when I was first pregnant and I've been using their (free !) service ever since - they get the measurement spot on and always seem to choose the most comfortable bras for me to try. Depending on the day/time, you may have to wait for a short while, but I've never waited more than 20 minutes. I go for a fitting there now every year or so when I'm passing by with some spare time on my hands!

thanks Louise

Got fitted at 36 weeks in John Lewis. Decent range and I got Elle McPherson crop top type bras (good for big boobs!)
