Just wanted to sanity check - newborns can sleep in an armless sleeping bag that's aged 0-6 months, right?

(Or do they need arms? Have vague idea that they can wriggle down and suffocate?)

I also recommend the swaddle ones. Mine really liked the Love to Dream ones with arms up as she naturally slept with arms up and they reduce the startle reflex. Also so much easier than actual swaddling. Love to Dream are suitable from newborn and come in several different weights including 0.2 tog which can be used up to 27 degrees. We also tried the Tommee Tippee one with arms in but preferred the Love to Dream. I never used the normal 0-6 month sleeping bags I brought as we first used the swaddle ones then the transition ones with zip off arms. There are lots on Vinted and unlike a lot of brands Love to Dream hold their value quite well so you can sell them when done.

When mine was newborn, I liked a Tommee Tippee one I had, which had extra poppers under the arm, which stopped it going over his face. I didn’t like blankets at all with mine. From very early he’d lift both legs up, and cycle his legs (infant dyschezia) and could pull away a tucked in blanket because baby mattresses aren’t very thick and heavy to hold it in place. I figured the sleeping bag which I could see had no way to get over his face was safe for him even if he was below the weight limit. Different babies are different though, and you’ll find what works for yours.

We only have armless sleeping bags, but you can buy tog rated sleep suits which you might prefer.
