Hi all, I had my 12 week scan and unfortunately baby has passed at around 6/7 weeks. I’m still ‘pregnant’ and awaiting further checks, possible treatment. Do I need to worry about asking for the anti-D injection? I’m o- partner is a +

thanks!

As you're at the 12 week point, it'll likely be determined based on if you need surgical management or not.

Best to contact your GP/Midwife

So sorry for your loss, OP. Did you have any signs or you only found out about it at the 12 week scan?

We had an early scan privately who said I was earlier than we thought and to come
back 2 weeks later for better images. We did and they stated then that the growth wasn’t as expected. A few days later I started bleeding, intermittently, and then went for the 12 weeks scan who also said this information seems correct but as it’s my first nhs scan I’m to go back in a weeks time for further checks

I'm really sorry this is happening.

I'm rhesus negative and was told they only give anti d after a loss at twelve weeks plus as before then there's not enough of baby to mix with your blood to risk a reaction. I'm not sure whether they would go off your dates or what you're currently measuring to decide though. Check with a proper midwife/gyno doctor though as the doctor on hospital rounds gave me the wrong information initially.

I was given anti-d after a loss at 9 weeks but baby stopped developing at around 6 weeks. Its already too late for you if you already started bleeding since you need to get it in the span of 72h after any bleeding starts.

Im rhesus negative and had a mmc where the baby stopped growing at 11 weeks and I was told I didn’t need the anti d (which seemed strange to me but anyway) I had surgical management at the time. I’d definitely query it with your medical team. Some people seem to be offered it and others not. I’m so sorry this has happened to you I know how heartbreaking it is.

I never did for any of my losses in the uk. So I had assumed the same for in europe but got told off when I came in pregnant again and hadn't had the injection for my loss prior.
Apparently the rest of Europe do it, but never the uk.
I'd absolutely push for it.

Well I’m in Ireland and they didn’t do it here when I had a loss and I even asked and they said no need. I expected to be given it as baby measured 11 weeks. They probably follow uk guidance here. Not sure .

I've had it every time after surgical management for 4 missed miscarriages in the UK (all between 8-11 weeks), I'm A-.

Thank you all, I’m due to be seen again Thursday and I’m anticipating some kind of intervention as the bleeding stopped but I’ll ask the question, my research had mixed response so great to get some others experience ❤️

After my losses, each time I was told I didn’t need anti d before 10 weeks.
