Worried sick I’ve hurt baby

Toddler Is having a very unsettled night, I have been in his room millions of times trying to settle and husband not once. The last time I was so furious he wasn’t getting up to help I stomped downstairs trying to be as loud as possible and putting alll my weight in each step. I know immature but very sleep deprived and grumpy! I’ve only just remembered I’m pregnant and panicking I have caused serious damage to the baby. Surely the impact must have been hard on the baby, it’s not like I jumped and my knees took the impact I stomped hard into the ground. I’m so so scared I keep having panicking attacks and can’t breathe. Any words of wisdom. I just can’t believe I was so stupid.

Seriously? You need to calm down. You basically walked. Pregnant women have run 10K races before now.

Stinkbomb · 22/05/2025 02:10

And marathons.
just go and wake your husband up if you feel like you can get straight back to sleep, otherwise wait til morning. And don’t be so flipping daft.

Stinkbomb · 22/05/2025 02:12

Crikey - if bouncing down some stairs on your feet could cause serious damage, we’d have a very disparate population now.

You wouldnt of hurt baby

Wake your husband up and tell him to help you

WhatANightForADance · 22/05/2025 02:23

Don’t worry at all, your baby is well protected. I’m a runner, ran until well into my third trimester and had healthy babies.

The real issues are your husband leaving you to do the childcare, and possibly your anxiety if you have thoughts like this often. Your husband needs to step up and if you are suffering with anxiety, do see your GP. 💐

Please don’t worry. The impact would have been entirely on your knees and joints. You would have hurt yourself before you hurt the baby.

I slipped and fell down in early pregnancy, and fell down the stairs and landed hard on my bum again when I was several months pregnant. I was so worried at the time but I delivered a happy healthy baby.

There is no way that walking heavily can hurt the baby. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and still walking my dog daily up and down hills and on uneven terrain. Women who run/gym will be doing more impactful exercise. The bigger concern is the lack of support you're getting at home - you need to tell your husband you need help, rather than hoping he'll get the message by hearing you slamming around the house in the middle of the night. It's you who's at risk of ill health through burnout, not the baby.

Oblomov25 · 22/05/2025 06:30

Eh? Of course this isn't even a thing.

Mrsttcno1 · 22/05/2025 06:32

I’m pregnant and run 3-6 miles every other day, further on weekends, I did the same when I was pregnant with my perfectly healthy 13 month old. This will not have done any harm to your baby whatsoever.

Henbags · 22/05/2025 06:48

I hope this isn’t a serious post.

WonderingWanda · 22/05/2025 06:51

You haven't caused any harm to your baby but you do need to wake your dh in future rather than stomping round the house and spiralling with your mental health.....to look after you. Pregnancy is hard work, your hormones play a huge role and when it's getting too much for you then your dh needs to step up.

Upinthetreetops · 22/05/2025 08:01

You walked down the stairs with a bit more gusto than usual and you're having panic attacks? Bigger problem at play here, no?
Take one minute to think of the millions of women who dance, run, ride horses, work out all throughout pregnancy. And then breathe. Oh and wake your useless lump of a husband next time.

Superscientist · 22/05/2025 09:08

I had a close the motorway car accident at 15 weeks baby was completely fine!

The human body has made that tiny tiny human more robust and protected than you would imagine. We would have died out a long time ago if stomping downstairs was likely to cause harm..

Get a brew and some rest x

Ballet dancers do daily classes including pointe often up until they deliver. I fell onto my stomach on the ice at nine months gone. You stamped downstairs.
