I have just got my results back from the 2hr glucose test... fasting level were 4.6 which is normal, the level after 2hr was 7.8 which apparently is the cut out point, therefore borderline.
I am waiting a call back from the midwife, I had GD in my first pregnancy, it was 4years ago and honestly i forgot most of it :) but I was able to keep it diet control, I am just worried this time around, with a toddler and busier life, I hope I am going to manage.
Has anyone had a borderline diagnosis? how were you treated?
Thanks x

I had a borderline diagnosis for DC4 and clear diagnosis for DC5.

I looked up a GD diet myself for DC4 and followed it. Still ended up with a biggish baby (8-15) and for DC5 I had a dietician give me a diet outline and did finger pricks/ blood sugar monitoring. Baby was 9-1, so only 2 ounces separated them.

It's well worth taking the time and effort to control your diet in pregnancy regardless of GD status. I recovered really well both times after sticking to healthy meals and portions.

Take 15 minutes a week to plan your meals. You can even do a rota for breakfast and lunch, and be a little more creative for dinner.

The difference between treatment was - induced on due date for DC5, and more testing for various issues at the end of pregnancy. Baby was also tested for blood sugar in the hospital, and I was too, before we could be discharged.

I was induced with DC4 too, but for lateness and low amniotic fluid level. No special testing in the hospital.

I think the GD was possibly a really good thing to happen as it made me conscious of my diet. I was in my late 30s at that point and it was a wake up call that my metabolism couldn't be taken for granted indefinitely.
