Had an ultrasound today. Is this black bean my baby?

I only tested positive 2 weeks ago. But the first day of my last period was 15th March. I have really irregular periods though so I don’t think I am as far along as everyone thinks. I think I’m around 4-5 weeks.
Had an ultrasound today and docs said they couldn’t see a gestational sac.
should I be worried? Is this black bean my baby?

No, the black bean is the gestational sac - just the space where the pregnancy begins to develop. Your doctor might have said they couldn’t see a yolk sac which is a small ring/circle and is a bag of protein that then goes on to develop into the pregnancy. If I look really hard, there might be a yolk sac in the right hand image. A yolk sac sac general confirms a very early pregnancy and is usually viable from around 5.5 weeks after your period. If you have irregular periods, it’s difficult to know what is going on and they should rescan you in 7-10 days. Hope this helps.

They should be rescanning you in 1-2 weeks to check development. Were you tracking ovulation? If you first tested positive 2 weeks ago you must be between 5-6 weeks pregnant. You can only really test positive at the earliest a week past ovulation (and this is very unusual. It’s normally more like 10-14dpo) but even if it is 7dpo you’re already classed as 3 weeks pregnant at that point. So if you tested positive 2 weeks ago the absolute minimum would be 5 weeks. If you’re more like 5 weeks it’s quite normal to not see much at all. If you’re more like 6 weeks I think you should be seeing more (but not impossible to not see much still). The only thing you can really do is wait until a further scan to check.
