Aspirin - pharmacy if GP prescription

If you were recommended to take low dose aspirin during pregnancy did you get it as a prescription from the GP or just buy it from the pharmacy? Midwife said I should get a prescription but I think I just brought it last time although was questioned by the pharmacist on one occasion.

Title should read pharmacy or GP

I got this on prescription along with high dose folic acid. Didn't even realise they sold the smaller amount otc

I was prescribed it but chose to buy it because the pharmacy only did dispersible aspirin which I couldn’t manage to take in earlier pregnancy thanks to the nausea! I bought it from the shelf in supermarkets, yellow packet for about £1.

I’ve been buying it until my exemption comes through. £10 on prescription or about £1.50 over the counter!

Doesn’t matter. It’s super cheap to buy anyway

Technically pharmacists aren't allowed to dispense it to you for pregnancy and it should be on prescription only (the otc version is usually half the amount for cardiovascular risk prevention) - although as you found you would be able to get it if they didn't notice/think to ask. I would keep getting it on prescription if possible as it means it'll all be on your record rather than looking like you've stopped taking it just in case there's any emergency.
