In store maternity clothes?

Hi
Does anyone know of any shops that sell maternity clothes in store, not online?
I don’t generally like buying online anyway and find it hard to assess sizes now I have a bump so just want to actually try clothes on. (Plus I don’t live near a post office or have a car so returning online clothes is a bit of a nightmare!)
So far I checked my local H&M, John Lewis, Fenwicks dept store, Next and M&S, but not one has a maternity section any more!
Thanks

In my local New Look there is a very small maternity section. But small - think black leggings, pair of jeans, few vets tops and a few t-shirts. But it’s a big New Look in a retail park.

Shops that definitely will are Jojo Maman Bebe but obviously pricier and not everyone will have one near them.

This was one of my biggest bug bears with being pregnant - nowhere sold maternity clothes in store!
I had to buy online and send back if I didn't like them :(

I live in a major city and the only place that had anything instore was H&M, and that was literally a rail or two. Primark has a section with a few PJs, vest tops, and bras, and possibly leggings.

It’s shit!

This drove me mad too. The only shop I found was JoJo Maman Bebe.

I'd resign to buying online, and maybe recruit a friend to help you with returns when necessary? Maybe someone who's been pregnant in recent years, because she will get it!

This is why I ended up just buying things in a bigger size as it was so frustrating. Things with a bit of stretch often looked ok rather than just bigger so it doesn’t always have to be specific maternity wear

I have a shopping centre near me with H&M and a separate H&M Kids (on another floor😅) where I never thought to look, but the Kids one has a fairly big maternity section. Weird! Worth checking if something like that near you.

Where I live I couldn’t find any in stores. I had to order all online which was really annoying.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 04/05/2025 15:07

Seraphine but so expensive

MrsBP15 · 04/05/2025 16:27

I haven’t found any. Even the Jojo Mama Bebe’s I’ve found only do children’s clothes not maternity in store. I’ve just bought online and then returned in store as needed which is super easy and quick in places like new look, next etc. I’ve just bought a few items and then taken them back in one if that makes sense. I’ve given up finding any maternity stuff in store. I’m the same as you, no post office or car.

The short answer is they don't exist OP!

Trust me, I've searched everywhere. Online is the only place which is definitely a bloody nightmare with sizing.

Mrsttcno1 · 04/05/2025 16:35

It must really depend on area because our M&S, H&M, Next & New Look all have a maternity section, not huge but at least a couple of rails.

Primark do have a maternity section in all the ones I’ve been into but I would say I didn’t love their maternity stuff.

Asda & Tesco also have a pretty good maternity range for basics and I know for Asda if you can’t find enough in store then you can order online to pick up in store & then can try them on and just return them there and then if no good.

Larger new look stores sometimes do.
Possibly Asda superstores

Pinkdreams · 04/05/2025 17:10

H&M xx

MrsBP15 · 04/05/2025 18:57

@Mrsttcno1 i need to move to wherever you are 🤣

heffalumpwoozle · 04/05/2025 19:10

Sadly you do just have to buy online and send it back if it doesn't fit.

I'm in a city and the only place anywhere near me is H&M, but their section is tiny, just a few pairs of leggings and plain or striped t shirts (why is so much maternity clothing blue and white striped t shirts?!)

So I have probably spent more than I needed to on the return postage buying online, but at least I got what I actually wanted. If you have a good sense of what suits you it's not too hard even with the bump to figure out what could work. I've only sent back 3 or 4 things.

Also some places you can return to store - Next, M&S etc - even if you bought online.

Where is that mall please? Is it Westfield by any chance?

have called hm customer service and asked “which of your stores sell maternity clothes” so I dont have to visit all 1000 stores to ask if they have maternity clothes - their answer was “we don’t know!” They are useless. It is such a struggle to find in store maternity clothes to try, they expect tired pregnant ladies to travel around finding shops that sell, they have no idea how much revenue they’re losing this way.
sorry rant over 😊

TimeToStopLurking · 29/12/2025 21:46

Some H&M stores have maternity sections, but not all. Got a few things from Maman JoJo Bebe but tbh had to alter most to suit my taste, and I'm by no means a sewer. Think Seraphine has gone but had a lovely hoodie from there with a zip insert for baby so worth the price as lasts post pregnancy
