Feeling a bit unwell 29 weeks pregnant - time off work

Over the weekend I have been feeling a little unwell, very nauseous, loss of appetite, a bit dizzy, very short of breath, I think my anxiety has increased a bit due to hormones and I do suffer with panic disorder but I haven’t had a panic attack in a few months now but I can feel them creeping back. My sleep is very broken at the moment as well due to needing to pee frequently, I am just feeling very lethargic (I am being tested for GD this week as well and I also have hydro therapy for my PGP) - are these good enough reasons to have the day off work, if not maybe even a few days. I do work from home but I just feel like I will struggle to concentrate and I need rest.
I HATE taking time off work and get really nervous about calling in sick. I understand being pregnant I am protected to some extent but I just feel like saying I need rest isn’t good enough.

Why relate it to pregnancy?

You sound ill

Although “a little unwell” doesn’t really sound grounds for a sick day to me

Being honest, if you work from home, I personally wouldn’t for those reasons. I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant myself and have certainly had to push through until my maternity starts this week! My job is quite high pressure and lots of meetings dotted throughout the day that I need to be presentable for, so it’s not as though I’m at home dossing, but equally I do think all of these things are a lot easier to manage from home than in-office. I went into our office once last week and that really put things into perspective for me. 😂 I do hope you feel better soon, though, OP. ☺️ P.S. make sure you mention the dizziness, nausea and shortness of breath to your MW.

I would take it off work or ask if you can reduce your workload and ask to work from home to manage the symptoms. I'd also see a GP just to make sure it's nothing nasty - if you need a bit of R&R, they may give you a sick note which would take a bit of the pressure off.

Your company can't penalise you for taking time off sick in pregnancy - it doesn't count towards a trigger system or anything if it's pregnancy-related. (If you're 36+ weeks then it would start your maternity leave early, though.)

I mainly wfh and have a lot of autonomy - I rearrange meetings on days where I'm flagging, I'm honest with my manager about how I'm feeling and I use flexible working hours to dip out to rest if I need to. I make up the time on days when I feel better. It's a sort of informal reasonable adjustments situation - I tell my boss what I think I can manage, and I only do that. I'm no good to anyone if I burn myself out or I feel half-dead.
