Am I mad to consider camping at 33 weeks pregnant?

We're looking at holiday options at the moment and I'm wondering whether it would be crazy to consider camping, which is what we normally do. I'm a teacher so we have to wait till the school holidays by which time I'll be 32-33 weeks pregnant. Obviously I think we'd have to make some adjustments like a comfier airbed rather than my trusty thermarest and some sort of toilet solution so I don't have to keep running to the toilet block in the night (any suggestions?), but I've no idea whether I'm being overly optimistic just because I'm feeling good at the moment. This is my first child so I've got no idea how I'm going to feel at that stage.

Has anyone tried it?

Thanks for the feedback ladies. I think we'll aim to give it a go but I'm definitely going to do it "luxury style" with a chair and comfy bed. The nappy bucket toilet idea is a good one. We're going camping this weekend, I think I'll give it a try!

Yes, unless you develop SPD or other uncomfortable symptom, you should be fine - make sure you have sat in your camping chair and checked it for comfort, warn your DP/DH that he will need to do all the hefting about with heavy stuff, fetching and carrying, and why anyone treks to toilet blocks in the night rather than weeing in a bucket, I don't know!

Here is some advice on weeing in buckets - those who don't like TMI look away now!

When heavily pg you may find it hard to squat over a full sized bucket. Just use a small sandcastle bucket and remain standing with bucket clutched close. Or kneel.

you need good size chair or lounger chair, dont forget leg rest, we went with normal size deck chair and i barely fitted in it, and sitting upright gave me backache, also bump was so slow, i needed my legs apart. so we bought large lounger chair with padded cushion, and it was bliss. put your leg up woman.
