NHS MATERNITY PAY BASED ON WHICH PAYDAYS?

Hello,

I am 4 weeks pregnant and a band 7 working in the NHS.

If my due date is 28th or 29th December then which payslips will my maternity pay be calculated from? Counting back to 15th week before birth takes me to between 9th-12th September. Does this mean it’ll be based on July and August payslips? So basically overtime worked in June and July?

thanks!

I’m in this exact position now and had it confirmed with my payroll.
my 25th week is mid-June and they’re using the 2 full paydays prior to this. Which is April and May, so March and April shifts.

which was annoying as I was only 11wks ish and the off duty had already been done

I feel a bit of a silly sausage arranging my shifts for June and July when 4 weeks pregnant! Managed to swap my on calls today though even though the rotas are already out! Sounds like it’ll definitely be based on July and Augusts payslips for me so June and July will be very busy work wise! Thanks so much for getting back to me and confirming! Good luck with everything! X

It's calculated on the amount you earn from weeks 17-25. It goes by those actual weeks, not your monthly payslip.

Double check with payroll, for my health board it's calculated based on your pay between 16 and 20 weeks.

@Laurennnnn1996
The family policy will be on the trusts Hub for you to read, pp above seem to have a different policy in their trust.
I’ve checked and double checked and triple checked my policy, so it may well be different across trusts

Mine says this

. How is the average salary calculated for maternity pay?
A. The employee’s average salary is based on the last two pay days before the 15th week before the expected date of childbirth.

I don’t know other trusts did it differently!

Bear in mind your official due date that you’re given may be completely different to the one you think it is….
