Struggling to drink water and most liquids

I'm roughly 10 weeks pregnant and have been struggling with nausea, particularly struggling to drink.

everything I try to eat or drink has a sour aftertaste. Fruit is the worst so I can't even have smoothies. I manage about half a cup of coffee with milk in the morning and a few sips of water during the day. The water leaves a particularly sour taste in my mouth/stomach. Milk on its own also makes me painfully bloated.

I know I am dehydrated. I feel pretty low on energy but I'm at a loss as to what to do.

I do still eat - mainly salads and lettuce which has water and bread or rice but I have to be careful because I had GD last pregnancy. I try to eat little and often.

any tips on how to get through this? I have tried mint and cucumber in water but to no avail. Fizzy drinks are no good, or juice or smoothies or squash.

May be worth a trip up the GP for antiemetics if you’ve not been already?

I ate a lot of those hartley’s jelly tubs when I was pregnant which have a high water content, maybe worth a go if your partial to jelly!

So hope the nausea gets better for you soon, it really effects everything

How about just chugging the water down instead of trying to flavour it.
I had this with one pregnancy. It slowly improved at the 3 month mark x

You need to contact your GP asap for anti sickness meds if you aren't keeping water down. A few sips of water a day is not enough- you need to ring 111 as it's bank holiday.

Speak to your Doctor as they will want to keep an eye on your hydration levels.
I was similar and ended up on a drip at one point.

Try ice chips, sparkling water mixed with squash - I liked the elderflower or apple high juice.

Agree with a visit to the GP for anti-sickness meds. Is it also possible you have acid reflux? Even once my morning sickness subsided, I still could barely drink because of reflux so currently (at 25 weeks pregnant) also taking a daily omeprazole which has worked wonders. If I miss it I'm back to throwing up water or whatever else I've tried that day. Until you can see the GP, maybe try ice lollies? Those helped me. I've also heard women say they've sucked on ice cubes or chips.

It's really awful OP, I feel your pain. Hopefully it starts to subside soon now you're at 10 weeks.

I had hyperemesis and was able to stomach lucozade but nothing else, weirdly. Would throw up immediately on plain water. Have you tried ice lollies? I could usually keep those down.

I had hyperemisis in both PG. Have you tried ice lollies? Sucking on ice cubes? I could just about keep down cold, fizzy water; sometimes mixed with grapefruit juice, and lemon or lime ice lollies. I had a complete aversion to anything sweet.

I had hyperemesis in both pregnancies.

With #1 I could only keep down frozen coke, nothing else, no food or other drinks. I was in and out of hospital for 9 months and frozen coke was the only thing that stayed down!

With #2 it was chocolate milk! I had awful reflux with the hyperemesis and that was the only liquid that I could stomach. When I had an extended hospital stay the nurse kept a 2L bottle of choccie milk in their fridge with my hospital name sticker on it haha.

I hope you find something that helps you x
