First trimester struggles

Just that really! I am having a bit of a moan. I am 8 weeks and feel horrendous. This is second baby, and I remember with my first dc I was unwell but this is next level.

My morning sickness hit me like a train at 6 weeks and was bed bound and whilst I can manage to get up and about now I am still really struggling daily with waves of nausea all day every day. The indigestion is also terrible. I have throat/chest/back pain after I’ve eaten which feels like an absolutely liberty take given I am barely eating.
Did anyone else suffer with this early on? Any remedies that worked for anyone?

I took a week off work when I felt terrible but can’t keep doing that.
I am living off beige food and my bank account is not thanking me as I am buying anything and everything I feel like in the moment but it’s still not helping much.

The guilt has set in with my toddler as she just wants me to play with her all the time and I am so drained and exhausted. She keeps asking me why I am crying all the time!

You’re allowed to moan OP.

Maybe you feel next level precisely because you have a toddler so not much time to rest.

I felt dreadful too, and ate all the beige food. Literally carried a block of cheese and a knife around in my pocket!

Just remind yourself that you’ll feel much better soon. Do you have someone to help out with your toddler?

I'm also pregnant with my second baby and struggling so much more this time round... with my first I was incredibly lucky to have very few issues or symptoms but this time round I've been absolutely wiped out.

●Nausea is the worst of them all, I've only been sick once or twice but the sicky feeling is horrendous to the point I've had to take time off work (which i never do)
●The tiredness, it doesn't matter if i have 13 hours sleep, I'm always tired, I get home from work, have my tea and put my boy to bed and I'm flat out on the sofa.
●Eating, it's one extreme to the other, one minute I'm feeling so sick that I can't eat a thing, the next I'm feeling so sick because I'm so hungry. Same with drinking, some days I can barely manage to drink anything cos of how it sits in my stomach then other days nothing seems to quench my thirst.

So I 100% feel where you are coming from and you have every right to have a little moan and feel sorry for yourself. ❤️

I had Hyperemesis gravidarum so know how awful sickness can be. While I am completely adverse to most medical interventions I had to take anti sickness tablets because I was at risk of dehydration and wasn’t good for baby. My point is if you are suffering that badly consider seeing a GP and getting g a bit of help. As it’s you second try and remember this should hopefully pass and get a bit better in a few weeks. Good luck.

I had a month off twice last year due to struggling with first trimester. The first time I had about 2-3 of my 4 days a week off sick and struggled in the other days and made myself quite unwell. This went on for 6 weeks and i struggled to keep up with work
I went through the first trimester again a few months later and this time got signed off for a month and whilst the symptoms were the same I coped a lot better with them having the time rest. I had a 4 yo but she was in school and after school club that helped and my partner took on all the house work and cooking

Thank you all so much for your replies. I feel really validated and like I’m not going crazy! I keep thinking…I’ve done this before. Was I this bad? Why can’t I cope this time? So thank you. I feel a bit lonely as I went through my previous pregnancy with other friends too. This time I am on my own, as in the only pregnant person I know. So I feel a little isolated atm so this has really helped me.

@anon1411 I could have written all your posts! Sometimes I want food, sometimes I’m repulsed. Drinks make me feel sick too! I don’t crave or feel like anything. I’ve gone right off coffee, even the smell right now sends me over the edge. really hope it improves for you soon.

I do have a very supportive husband, driving me everywhere to get the very specific food I have asked for. Taking control with our toddler more (when she lets him) so I do feel very helped at home.
it is just relentless and no one unless you have been through or are going through understands.

@Rainingalldayonmyhead I did contemplate the GP but because I have only vomited once I thought I was being over dramatic.i haven’t even had my midwife apt yet. I’ll mention it when I do go.

I am exactly the same as you! Also felt nauseous with 1st pregnancy and this time it is much worse. I remember napping a lot 1st time around and going to bed at 8pm, wasn’t rushing around as much, wasn’t up at 6am… was able to sit down and relax when at home… tiredness definitely is a trigger for me but hard to control that with a nearly 2 year old.

I am taking cyclizine and another one that begins with P… forgot the name sorry. I haven’t physically been sick so you’re not being dramatic, the nausea alone is horrendous. I’ve had to let my toddler watch probably way too much TV. I feel so bad for not being the mum I want to be right now but hopefully it will fade and we can get back to ourselves and make up for it.

Also take days off from work when you need to, I’m booking a week off in a couple of weeks time just to do nothing!
