Wondered if anyone can put my mind at ease 🥲 went for a growth scan today at 37 weeks. They’ve told me I have polyhydramnios and my fluid is measuring at 40 cm! Baby’s Left renal pelvis is dilated by 8.6mm ??

They’re referring me to Fetal Medicine Unit, assuming to do further tests?? They’ve not really given me much information… has anyone has anything similar?

Fetal medicine unit usually means first step is someone more qualified will scan you - so don't worry!

I had polyhydramnios in my first pregnancy, diagnosed at the 20 week scan. They also thought DS had problems with his kidneys and referred us to a London hospital for further scans which was scary but thankfully he was fine.

It can be an indicator of gestational diabetes so I mad multiple tests for that throughout my pregnancy which were all negative.

For me it was just one of those things and everything was fine. I hope it’s the same for you.

My waters breaking was spectacular though!

I had this with my third, diagnosed at 28 weeks. 50% of cases are idiopathic. Fetal medicine unit were great & did lots of measurements which as far as I recall were more accurate. Had fortnightly scans. They were convinced it was gestational diabetes but didn't test positive. I ended up giving birth at 37 weeks & baby was perfectly healthy. It was like a tsunami when my waters broke. Try not fall down a rabbit hole on the internet. Hopefully the next scans will be more informative. Try not to worry, easier said than done, I know!
